I just bought a 68,000 mile 2009 C63 AMG for crazy cheap because the previous owner listed the car as having major engine issues that could cost many thousands of dollars to fix. Mercedes and AMG had many issues with this M156 engine when it first came out so it wasn’t crazy for the previous owner to assume it needed work but I was able to fix this one in 30 minutes and with $150 in parts.
Here’s a video on all the major M156 factory defects.

Ok, it actually sounds really good in the last scene. Would you guys change the exhaust?
Only if I knew as much as you know about cars. Love the videos new to the channel and love the free giveaways that is really awesome of you and all that contribute.
That was a bargain given that it was not as bad as the owner thought. Sometimes you can get lucky.
9:57 – Holy cow. That engine wants to get right outta there.
I wanna buy this car! 🥹🥹🥹
Are you selling lol like really omg 8500 i know this video 5 years old lol
I have a 2010 c63 and getting a code for a rear throttle valve actuator failure. Which one is considered the rear? It can be either one depending if your sitting in the car or looking at it from the front. The air box maf sensors are labeled left and right as if your sitting in the car so does that mean the rear throttle valve is the one closest to the front bumper?
I'd be down to buy it
OK this channel has convinced me to consider a big Merc V8. Please help me avoid a roller-coaster. I can snag a 2010 E63 AMG with 110k miles, likely original engine parts (head bolts, tapits, cam phasers etc.) Yes or No? I have the ability to change/upgrade the parts but should I bother? It's there a reasonable way to confirm engine conditions without pulling the valve covers etc?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 wow this was 4 years ago already!!!
She’s up for sale in Maryland
Do you have video on doing a oil change on this car?thanks
Been seriously considering a c63 lately, when I do get one I'll be watching your whole catalouge to see all the frequent issues
I speak bahasa Malaysia and I don't use english subtitles✌️. Been following your channel for 4 years now, love it! ❤
I would love the c63 or any 63 minus the head bolt issues. Lots of power for a bargain.
12:35 – Foreshadowing
where’d you get the wing?
This is what happens when you Google your own diagnosis. And you don't take it in to an honest mechanic to have it properly diagnosed. Should have taken it into Scotty Kilmer.
I still can't believe Mercedes keeps using those crappy plastic parts that break like that. I work with Mercedes since 1970 and I saw the cars changed over the years. I started everything was made out of metal. Yes they were heavy like tanks but they lasted forever and could always be repaired or rebuilt. They were not throw away cars. As soon as I started seeing plastic parts come in I knew Mercedes was going downhill. I can't believe they still would have cylinder head bolt issues with the cars. They had those problems in the 80s when they went to aluminum blocks. We did a lot of jobs with timeserts and new style head bolts. You would have thought that they would have stopped making engines with issues like that. You buy a AMG has the plaque with hand-built by so-and-so. Well I wouldn't want to put my name on it if I knew that these cars were going to have issues like that. The engine sounds fine you don't need to open it up. But if you want to remove the valve covers check all the timing chain components make sure none of the plastic rails are broken that would be okay. Motor sounds fine. Get rid of the exhaust put the factory exhaust back on with the electronic cut out if you want to open up for loudness. Definitely clean up the car get rid of the Hokey stickers and different colors put it back to the clean stock look. Do some subtle modifications. A loud exhaust like that definitely only belongs on the racetrack. Not on the streets. I know cops that'll pull you over and give you a ticket.
What a steal
It's surely no oil that burns… Oil would be blue. It's just water that condensed in the heated exhaust system. I noticed the same on my 2010 C63 performance when I was driving short distances mostly. No problems whatsoever after a good old run on the Autobahn. 🙂 Best wishes from Germany
Those cars must be the pinnacle of human engineering achievements, and no we did not go to the moon.
So far your biggest problem is only the engine mount. You got a great deal!!!👍🏾
That’s crazy cheap $8500 that’s like at least 12k in austral for any amg that is insanely cheap.
Bro I robbed you…. No fr I got you good…. Hahaha
this video makes zero sense to 99.001% to the population of non mechanical consumers 🤔
What a beautiful machine even with the little issues I have a 2007 W204 C350 And I’m having a major issue if you can advise my dash looks like a Christmas tree and no one seems to be able to tell me what the issue may be after seeing 5 Mercedes specialists , I have a ESP Presafe inoperative , ABS and speedtronic errors, this comes up a few minutes into the first drive in the morning and when it comes on the speedometer stops working aswell as the power steering and traction control I’m sure there is more but that’s what’s noticeable the ABS pump was suggested to be broken but no errors show on diagnostic machines, can you advise anything I really want to get my beloved girl back up to ship shape because it really is a spectacular car and I don’t want to part with her
8500 WOOOW
I love Mercedes’. This model is definitely one of my bucket list vehicles I want to buy. I also want a C55 which is also rare. I own a 2008 C300 witch runs amazing for a V6 but the V8 is the one to have….
I have a 99 SL600 v12Merc with a cooling issue…. The radiator light keeps coming on I'm scared to find out what it is…
That’s a steal on my dream project car👀🤟🏼
I learned a lot from your vdo, I want to put this engine on my Yaris tomorrow
I would’ve gotten that car rebuilt myself that’s my absolute dream car
great buy…. rebuilt title obviously does come into the price point. 68k miles is about 100k+ kms? not bad mileage. What I would like to see done… a manualisation project (stick shift for you yanks)
Tavarish tape under the bonnet. Lol
For that price and mileage now they are worth 25-40k
tham i had 4 mercedes befor and they always use cheap plastic material for cooling system same with tank reservoir
