Learn How to Solder Correctly. In this video I show you the tools, tips, tricks, and techniques to properly solder, from what type of solder and flux you should use to how to splice the wires together for a strong soldered joint. I show you how to strip the wires, add heat shrink, splice the wires, solder, and melt the heat shrink to make a perfect soldered connection!

I hope he does the bumper project
the fan is bad idea. Do not blow on the joint, as this will cause the solder to cool too rapidly, leading to crystallization and embrittlement.

For the tip I just use wrie coat hangers
You were perfect here in this video. I never knew half the things you went over. Luckily nothing I ever soldered was a risk to anyone or anything but I will use your instructions on the up and coming solder job I need to do.
Thanks a lot of the great tutorial.
Could you also use electrical tape instead of heat shrinks?
Excellent. For anyone interested in other lessons that complement and reinforce this, check out "How To Solder Properly, With Extra Tips!" by Mr Carlson's Lab, and the "Basic Soldering Lessons 1 – 9" playlist by paceworldwide. The latter are ~40yrs old but still relevant and really, I'd say still essential.
do i have a solder machine? no.
but did i watch this whole video about soldering?
Yes… yes i did.
Thanks!
Great video!
I kinda licked the sotter…
You should clean the flux off before you apply your dielectric grease.
It's much easier to use 63/37 solder rather than 60/40.
What a hunk!
Well I guess I am only cold soldering……….. better gun more practice
Thanks
Great video? What wire do you use for homemade soldering tips?? What's it called thank you
Please can you explain why you pronounce ‘solder’ as ‘sodder’?
What heat setting do you recommend for an adjustable soldering “pen†for gauge 12 and below? I don’t have a soldering gun.
I am really impressed by your knowledge, your good.
For me as long as power is flowing through, then I will tape it back together and leave it
12:01 oh no.. a short circuit!
That, Sir, is a beautiful soldering job
So uh, I soldered for the first time before watching this or anything and I totally breathed in the oke, didn't know it has lead and I legit had fried chicken
very helpful, thank you
Fantastic demonstration video Chris, I've had so much trouble soldering over the yrs for lack of education. Thankyou so much, this is really helpful. Cheers from Queensland, Australia.
Why there are always editing cuts in scene of actual soldering? Disappointing
I picked up a couple useful tips here. Thx.
Thanks Chris for this tutorial! I’ve got a wife that says I’m not allowed to be around anything electrical and I fixed four separate wires in my door wiring harness thanks to some cool guy online!
Is it bad to solder stuff for engine bay stuff?
If you touch the joint before it’s cool, you could move the wires and create cracks (and not to mention, burn yourself).
Where this guy live??
Thank you so much for your videos, you've helped me save money and I always learn something new that helps me along the way. I'll be using your guidance on some wires in my stereo. I'm excited to get to work soon!
Nice work man. Great explanation and solid soldering techniques.
Amazingly helpful video thank you
Yes rosin when heated will help clean the surface of what it comes in contact from oxidation.
Why you pronounce it salder, Americans 🙄
Nice I was wondering about the silicone grease because I was going to do that and boom there it is!
Take a shot every time he says solter
Why are you calling it sorder? It's solder 🤣🤣
Thanks Chris
I just got all the items and did foams soldering of wires today and it worked great. Thanks Chris for sharing all the tricks of the trades
Excellent information! Thanks. What is the correct temperature setting for soldering automotive wires? My RadioShack digital soldering stations has various temperature settings and I'm not sure which one to choose.
Helping hands is a cute name LMAO
squeeze down on the stripper and twist around a few times….that's just good policy all around
i will always associate soldering with veggie burgers since i was eating one while watching
