How to SAFELY Install a Dash Camera in a Car with Airbags (Hard Wire and Rear Cam) – Car Mod Pros Portal

Learn how to hard wire a dash camera and rear camera in your car or truck. All modern cars have airbags and many people run the power wires to the dash camera incorrectly which can be dangerous. In this video I show you how to hardwire a dash camera in a truck and do a clean install using the factory cigarette lighter adapter in a car so all of the wires are hidden. You can use this video to install any brand of dash camera but in this case I am using the Vantrue E1 and Vantrue N4 Pro with a rear camera and cabin facing camera.

  2. Great video, I had been putting off trying this worried about running the wires. I found an adaptor to get 12v off the connector on the back of the rearview mirror to a USB connector (Dongar brand) which made it even easier (it doesn't stay powered when the car is off but i didnt care about that feature).

  3. 15:48 i have the Vantrue N4 (not Pro) and i don't recommend it. the parking mode shut-off never worked on my unit (i live on a relatively high-traffic street, so passing cars and pedestrians often turned on my dash cam), and i would need to jump start my car after 2 or 3 days sitting idle. also, the dash cam is supposed to automatically shut itself off or go into parking mode after 5 minutes of the car sitting motionless. that worked well for a couple of years, but out of the blue it stopped shutting off and records everything until it drains the car battery. now i have to manually turn the dash cam on and off. a bit of a pain, but better than no camera

tip: when installing the rear-facing camera, make sure it's mounted within the glass's defrost area. i was involved in a hit-and-run accident where my camera didn't get the other driver's license plate because the camera was at the very top of the rear window and snow blocked the view

  4. Honestly, the only times my dash cams have ever helped me out was avoiding disciplinary action for other people almost hitting me in the big truck back when I was a company driver… it's amazing how different of a story 30 seconds (or even a minute) before the event tells than 15 seconds before the event does

  5. Those Vantrue models that stick to the windshield; do you know if they stick on the 'tint strip' up at the top of the windshield, and if so does it do so without damaging the tint ? I assume you need a heat-gun to remove the cam mount ? Bc that would also damage tint.
Also, it looks like its on a fixed mount. Meaning, you cant swivel or rotate the camera if you wanted? Every time I get pulled over I swivel mine to face the drivers side window. Can be a hinderance though when pulling down sun-shade bc it can move.

Never heard about 'endurance' SD cards until now. A good quality one should suffice. That seems like a tech company label just to create obsolescence of the dozen cards I already got.

  6. Hey Chris! I recently got a new car. Your videos have helped me a lot in maintaining my car. But as it's my first car I am struggling with water spots on the painted surface of my car a lot. These are really stubborn water spots and I am unable to get rid of them (Chemical Guys products are not available in my country). Can you plz suggest some tips for this if possible? Or if there's already a video about it on your channel, point me towards it. I couldn't find any.
