    Hey Chris, I'm about to replace all the tie rods on my '94 F-150 with Moog parts. I bought Lucas Red and Tacky grease for them but can't find anywhere if that grease is good for tie rod ends. What can you tell me? Thanks in advance.

    Got stuck on this. Just can't move the retaining nut. Soaked in WD-40, got a long spanner (wrench) on it, pulled it against the 13mm that's on the inner tie rod. Tried getting a pry bar in between them, using a lump hammer, and just grabbing one in each hand and pulling apart as hard as I can. All that happens is I nearly pull some muscles and the 13mm starts to strip the hex part of the tie rod. Don't have a blowtorch. Will a heat gun do it?

    ChrisFix, what do you suggest to do when I go to loosen my tie rod nut, but the damn rack/hub turns with it? Is that impact gun time or is there another solution that won't damage anything?

    From the factory my tie rods on my ford focus had no nut, but the aftermarket comes with one. Just going to measure where the old one came to and set the new one at that distance.

    I spent two hours just on the upside down castle bolt step, and then gave up with a mangled bolt and a split tie rod boot. All that work for a steering rack gaiter.

    Thanks, I needed to replace the tie-rod on my JD x728 where the ball joints are welded on each end of the rod. I was being a little too easy on the end of the bolt and couldn't get it to budge. I watched you video and saw the hammer was indeed called for. I should be good for another 10 years.

    NEVER bang on the threaded stud like that. Bang on the side of the knuckle holding the tie rod end in. I hit on the threads just a little bit with the castle nut on and ruined the threads on it. They're real stripped now. I wasn't even trying to change a tie rod end but now I have to.
