How to check ball joints and ball joint noise. Learn how to diagnose a bad ball joint for both an upper and lower control arm. I also quickly show you how to tell if it is a bad tie rod, bushings, or a bad bearing just in case your ball joint is not bad. A bad ball joint will make noise which is the first symptom of knowing it’s bad.

Am hearing a sound while driving often …. sometimes not…. a clunking sound …i am thinking its from axle !!
How to check a bad axle ??
Damn I wish I saw this months ago. I could of prevented my 4runner from failed ball joints. Thanks for this!!!!!!
my left front creaks when making a hard slow right?
Very cool diagnostic. I find out the lower ball joint is bad when the car makes all kinds of noises like an old squeaky wooden stair. Then the tire fell off the car at low speed but the axle landed back on the inside of the wheel rim. I got lucky.
You must be from Jersey
A very helpful video.
You have saved me lots of money from your videos. Thank you. May God give you blessings.

Also sometimes I share this, the Bible says that GOD loves us so much that he sent his son JESUS CHRIST to this earth and HE lived a perfect sinless life. And JESUS went to a cross and gave HIS life for us.And rose again in 3 days and who ever will receive JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO THEIR HEART AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS,HE WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN.
My truck is so big I would have to go to a shop to have it lifted lol

Sounds like 2 old people screwing
The 6 & 12 o'clock pisition tho wont give play unless the bearings shot.
Can you make a video on how to test your entire suspension.
In order to feel the wear of ball joints, you must jack up or support the lower control arm with the load of the suspension supported. Otherwise you are working against the suspension/springs to feel for the wear of the ball joints. In order words, jack it up and support it by the lower control arm. Your video shows the vehicle weight on stands resting on the frame. Good video and explanation though.
I almost replaced shock mountings again. thanks so much

Great video. I need upper and lower replaced ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ»
holy shit i went thru 9 videos and none of them mentioned squeaking noises
my boy christopher fixtopher came in clutch
More often than not, any play you feel when you try to "wiggle" the tire with your hands at the 6 and 12 positions will indicate a bad wheel bearing. You're not likely to be able to feel a bad ball joint that way because of spring pressure against it. The pry bar under the wheel is a more sure way to check them.
thanks duded very helpful much appreciated .
directions unclear. balls stuck in toaster
Hi Chris, I wonder what car jack and stands do you use in this video? I bought and return mine yesterday. Thanks.
Great video
The tire wiggle mostly shows the condition of the wheel bearing, but will also show ball joint slop. Better way while it's lifted like that is to pry upward with a pry-bar between the pavement & lower control arm while watching the joints for vertical/horizontal play.
