5. 021121 HI Chris,

   I just had my differential fluid changed at Firestone. OMG! It was just over $100 service by them. I also had the oil changed. SURPRISE, then they came in to tell me I have an oil leak that the pan needs to be dropped and the gasket replaced.
   I have been parked in the same parking spot for some time now. There are NO oil drop stains on the asphalt but low and behold, the engine sounds different, more pings and clinks since I picked it up as well as the projected need for the oil pan and spark plug replacement. Huh?
   SALES, SALES, SALES!
   So the next work is the transmission fluid and gasket replacement at AAmco.
   I'm going to try the Power steering fluid change too but amazingly AAmco wants as much for that work as they do for the transmission fluid flush and gasket replacement. This all leaves me scratching my head and doubting my choices, Both of these organizations are back and referred by AAA of SoCal.
   I wish I had the space to try this on my own!

8. do you need to have the rear end raised when doing a differential or manual transmission oil change? would it mainly have to be at ride height? say I have a 2" level on the rear of the truck so would I need to lift it to where ride height would be?

    I looked under my car (2014 Kia Optima) and I don’t see the differential gear box… I looked at my manual and there is no mention of differential. How does one Change the differential fluid if we don’t see a differential box or know what oil to use because it’s not listed in the manual?

13. How about actually cleaning out the residue of oil oil in the diff…using brake cleaner…and a good rag?? I would think that cleaning out the differential is good for the gears….and gives you completely fresh oil when you fill up. I'm surprised you didn't do that.

15. Thanks for your videos. I did mine buy just using a pump and hose to remove the fluid and then pumped new fluid back in. Took about 5 min. Not as thorough as your method but it is good enough for my old car to have 90-95% of the fluid changed.

25. why is there a need to let it sit for an hour before torquing after you already let it tack for 15 minutes?
