Hmm. My Mazda 626 from 1986 has drum brakes which was changed in 88. But now my drums are freaking stuck…
Christopher fixtopher, thank you for helping me with so many fixes you beautiful man.
On drum brakes they're shoes, on disc brakes they're pads.
Video is very good, master. Congratulations.
True. Disc brakes are super easy. These drum shoes are a little more complicated. But nothing we can't learn and do.ðŸ‘ÂÂÂÂ
Hello Chris! How about a reply to my comment from 4 weeks ago?
You missed the part where you curse scream and damn near kick the car off its jack stands because the shoes wore a groove into the drum preventing them from coming off at all
I did my rear break drums 30-40 years ago. I can't stand it. I'm at a station in life where I'll never buy a car that has rear break drums again. My grandchildren live nearby and I'll have to work on their cars as they are young and will be buying used cheaper cars…and almost guaranteed to have rear break drums (and need other repairs) I'll PAY some place to work on rear drums. I'll take care of everything else.
Couldn’t you just replace the springs one by one as you go? Instead of taking it all apart and then putting it all back together later?
I start a new job Monday after being unemployed for 3 months and my back tire seized from what my buddy assumes is a bad cylinder. Your video is extremely helpful and other than the springs I feel like I might be able to do this before I miss my new opportunity. Thanks for posting your knowledge!
Question. When the drum on and the emergency breaks are off, is it Normal if it only rotates a little ? Or is there something wrong
There are 3 places on rotor plate that should be greased with a dab of grease. Also grease on the very top on that metal circle. When I changed my brakes I noticed that the 9 inch rotors have a metal part that pushes into wheel cylinders(no metal plungers that look like clothespins) and also the emergency brake lever has a hook that fits on back of shoe near top(no metal bolt with C clamp). I changed my wheel cylinders also and had success on the rear right brake, but the brake line nut on rear left was rusted shut. I had to cut brake line with hacksaw. Then I made a new brake line, using old line as a template with a tube bender. Then I used one man bleed brakes technique. Now I have firm brake pedal! Thank you Chris for your GREAT videos!
Hey Chris this is not related to the video. I have a 2003 Honda Accord v6 and once in a while the engine light comes on and show I have a p0171 for fuel too lean on bank 1. My car runs and start just fine. Do u know what the issue might be? I checked the lines they they seems to be fine. I just don’t done what I can do to get rid of the light for good and not to come back again
Chris…. I got here from your 2018-9 version of this same Job. WOW you can really SEE the improvement in not only your confidence, but SKILLZ as well!!!

We couldn't afford Thanksgiving. We can't even afford a stinking Tree or paper decorations. ðŸ’â€ÂÂÂ😞 No Christmas either. No Presents for my Grandbabies. We're completely on our own. I made the mistake of swallowing my pride and asked YouTube Viewers for a little financial help…
I was promptly labelled as a SCAMMER. 😞
We're Praying that 2021 is even a little better for us….
We wish you and your Family the most Joyous of Holiday Seasons, a very Merry Christmas 🎄â„ and amazing New Year! 🎉🎉

I don’t need to changed my drums on my Bronco but watched this excellent tutorial anyway. If you need to change your drum brakes then this is the only one to watch.
So cool
Still waiting for DRUM to DISC CONVERSION…
Just FYI to the readers…A brake tool is about $5-$6 dollars at Harbor Freight. Get one. You'll cuss much less and get done a lot faster.
Do one side first, that way if you need reference, you can use the other side that is untouched to know where everything goes (I'm here because I didn't and needed a reference).
Covert rear brakes to disks
Kind of naive for not wearing latex gloves while doing the work !!!
Damn Chris still liking the comments he’s my fav car guy 🙂
