This shows how to change out the Multifunction Switch on a PT Cruiser or Dodge Neon. The fog lights would stay on and drain the battery even in the off position… This replacement will work for any PT Cruiser. The multiswitch is a well know problem for Pt Cruisers but it can be easily fixed with no special tools. The job takes 30min if you take your time. I got the part for $60 so shop around. A job like this done at the dealer would cost anywhere from $200-$400.

Here is the part I used that will fit any 2001-2005 PT Cruiser: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BI3JJW8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00BI3JJW8&linkCode=as2&tag=chri0e2-20&linkId=DZTENBJATNHX5KPE

  1. It would be cool for some bonus content if you took apart the old multifunction switch and found where the short/smoke was coming from. Great video though, you make great content.

  2. We are in the UK and drive one of the last remaining Neons left over here [2004 plate].
Fog lamp just started to stick on so this video is invaluable. Thanks.

  3. i just got thru compleatly rewireing my 53 dodge army truck the old wire was toast it was very simple to do todays cars have too much junk added makes it hard to do minor workon them

  4. Its sad this video only has 212k views. True its one of Chis's earlier works that lacks his current polish and enthusiasm but it is still a good video and well worth a watch.

  5. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery before replacing the multifunction switch ? I replaced the switch , which was a piece of cake, but when I was done, I had no turn signals. Could I possibly have gotten an bad switch ? Everything else works now except the turn signals and the hazard lights.

  6. Hey ChrisFix, I just replaced this on my 2002 pt cruiser because the fog lamps weren't working and now they do! Unfortunately my headlights worked before replacing tgis part and now they do not. The high beams work when the lever is pulled back but low beams do not come on now 🙁 Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

  8. Brother I don’t know where you live, but if I am ever in your area, I owe you the biggest, most lavish steak dinner known to man.
I got this job done in about 1/2 hour. You saved me from a dead battery in the morning. Many thanks!!!

  9. Hey man….i have 2004 pt cruiser. I change that part but my car still does same thing….when i turn left the fuse always burns out….only when turning left….what could it be?.

  10. Dude I just got a 04 PT cruiser, and my running lights not working I ran across this video. And everything is Golden, thanks for the video you save me a lot of time and money 💯💯💯

  11. OK, after watching a bunch of your videos I'm a subscriber. Making these for us in such a easy to follow and thorough fashion is to be commended. We all like to believe we could do the same but you're actually doing it and doing it very well. Thank you for all the effort and keep up the interesting work.

  12. The fog lights come on, when I turn on my right side signal light. So, I know this part is bad. My instrument panel isn't working either, tho. Does this have anything to do with the speedometer, and tach instrument panel???? My power door locks stopped working, also. Any ideas??????

  13. Chris I thank you for your great videos. One of the things I do when I clean a battery is put the red and green felt washers under the connectors. I have found it really slows down the battery acid billed up on the terminals. they are usually only a couple of bucks and they also aid in positive and negative pole identification at a glance.  I have learned a lot from you and thank you for making it simple enough for non mechanics.

  14. Thank You!!!!! Great job of explaining and showing  how to change the multifunction switch. After watching your video a couple of times. I felt it was something I could do. I did however play the video, paused it while I did one step came back to the video played it again for the next step and it was done before I knew it! I'm a 61 year old grandma that is not the least bit car repair savvy but thanks to you my car now has low beams and, high beams (neither was working before changing the switch). Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and skills.
