This video shows how to change a belt in a 2004 Jeep Wrangler straight 6cyl. This will work on any jeep from 1996-2008 with the 4.0 Inline 6. Can also be used for earlier jeeps as well. Worn belts can lead to failure via snapping and this would make it difficult to continue driving. It is easy to replace the belt and watching this video should prove that to you. Belt replacement is the exact same process on the Jeep Rubicon.

I'm working on a jeep grand cherokee 2018 it's really funny the vehicle start with the remote and stay on perfectly as soon as you start it with the push button start the car die immediately. All that just happened after the jump the battery wich they shouldn't under the hood. Any idea on how to?

thanks this IS the easiest way to put on the belt too, with the idler last. you nailed the process. That square is a half-inch btw and at regular 1/2 inch socket wrench worked for me easily.
If your belt is squeaking change the idler pulley and the tensioner pulley. There literally a bolt each. Too easy. and cheap 50$ total

Hey Chris. My Wife's 02 Wrangler doesn't have that quick tension release to remove the belt. I have to adjust the Tension Pulley up and down. My question is. When I tighten it back up, how do I test the ideal Tension for the Belt. First it was squeaking because it was loose. Now it's squeaking because it's tight… Any help you can provide with this so I can stop that squeak would be godly. Thanks.

Hi Chrisfix I've got a seat ibiza 1.4 tsi cupra on a 2010 plate it's only done 50,000 miles on clock and when I start it first thing in the morning I'm getting a little rattling noise for about 5-10 seconds and it's got a timing chain and when the car is idling the engine is lovely no rattling at all on cold or hot just on first start for 5-10 seconds then it's lovely purring engine I'm a bit worried that the rattling noise might be my chain on first start up or could it be something else? as I've been told that timing chains especially on German cars last a very long time any ideas Chris?

This worked on 2002 Wrangler Sahara and a 1/2" empty socket did the trick. Other videos where so different with 15mm bolts? I was confused before this video. Thank you!
