What a hack! I love it. ๐๐๐
A guy's opinion is that this is one of my favorite rescues. I have specific highschool memories of a GN. I'd love to see this restored frame up. Sacrilige to see one bit of rust on it. ๐
That poor GN. Rotting away all those years
You should have just painted the whole thing with farm implement black lol
Hey Eric I will say I messed my pants at 27:22 when you made Chad disappear behind your forearm.
He Grand National was only made from 85-87
A Grand National doesn't need "character", it needs a new coat of paint.
A part of my brain just wants to fill those bumper gaps with sheet metal!
Good night ๐ ๐๐ป from New Zealand ๐ณ๐ฟ John Teni Teni
21:46 I wonder how the hood would look with the rust neutralizer applied then clear coated.
I love this channel. It inspires me to get out and turn wrenches on my project.
Classic, bring it back to life..
Paint it candy apple redโฆ
Itโs great seeing these beautiful classic cars come back to life!
A GUY does amazing work so glad to see someone taking the time and effort to give this Grand National the makeover it deserves. Such a cool car from our past can't wait to see more of it. As always great job ๐ Keep it up!
Another Fun Adventure ! The GN was an excellent car ! I'd like to get one someday ???
Sometimes ? at the Jefferson, WI Car show / swap show and Iola, WI you find GN parts. Or a parts car.
This is my absolute favorite revival
I love your show. By the way, keep up the good work.
If it's worth that much money, you should do it, right.. Just send and then you'll get your money out of it. Once you go to sell it or trade it or whatever you want to do.
Heat in the street… fantastic song by Pat Travers
Pretty cool, but I still prefer the maroon t type.
I love the muscle cars, and cool old trucks, hear me out.. there's just something about a turbo Buick… g nationals, t types yum..
I would love to see you restore this to its original beauty!!!!
Doesn't look good at all….
Polishing
You should just sand the hood. Or wire brush it. Primer. And rattle can. Wire brush the rust. Rust protection. Paint.
Arms are sweaty. Mom's spaghetti.
Chips In back to black Dont think about it just do it yep
if the tire is a bit dodab i use an inner tube ๐๐
The GN is my absolute favorite '80s car ever! Oh what I would give for this car!
I agree the funniest thing is watching the pressure washer rolling away!!๐๐๐๐
Greatest idea ever I've got a 90 f150 I think I will clear coat ๐. It's blue n the roof is like the hood on this car.
"Wheel skins", that's what we used to call hubcaps or center caps when I worked at the dealerships as a mechanic. ๐
Wow i couldnโt believe how nice it was after the wash job looks great and Iโm glad you found a tire ๐ GN see you on next one ๐
This bothered me sooooo bad. All that cleaning and taping up a car and not even putting 40$ into some black rustoleum paint to at least make it half decent. Before adding clear coat ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐ซ๐ซ
Rewatching this one and after seeing your post today about acquiring a new portable spray booth i say it's time to throw some cheap paint jobs on these going to town rigs ๐
Looking good. Just need the bumper filler pieces and a headliner and she will be a good going to town rig.๐
Man That Car look's great ,good Job .
Very good series
…
As for the grand national Iโd keep it all original just beef up the motor and transmission
I have watching or trying to watch all your videos I love all the series that your doing love the clearcoat on your grand national I donโt usually comment on videos but I do like the videos I have seen so far keep up the good work
Too many cars or projects going Derek. Not an 84 but we know what ya mean. Sorry to nitpick but had to pipe up. Thanks for the content.
Derek, you are a major inspiration for the rest of us. Especially the message at the end. This week we will be putting a 2001 Blazer back on the road. It was last registered 11 years ago and was massively overheated. It is my son's first vehicle, he bought it for $700. 2 years later and a complete engine rebuild, brake rebuild and lots of wiring repairs, it is brought back to life. It may not be a Chevelle or Mustang, but it is a good running vehicle we have sweat equity in and are proud of!
Hi Guy! Not sure what your tintage law is in Tennessee but those windows would look great all smoked out or murdered out or whatever the kids are calling it. When we were a kid we just got tickets for the tint and didnโt care. ๐
This is awesome Derek! I plan on doing the same thing to my 81 trans am. Is your shine juice basically urethane clear? Sure looks like it. And all you did after the power washing is the super fine scotchbrite pads, and prep sol?Just asking because I'll be doing the same thing very soon. Also I use spray 9 before power washing to remove mildew .it works really well
Derek, contact your tire machine manufacturer & inquire if you can obtain a set of plastic rim protectors that go on the "teeth' that move in & out that hold the wheels onto the machine; those will prevent any scratching.
Yea thats how my 91 s10 was it got parked out in the back 40 for how ever many years, and i didn't even know it was blue until after i used a whole tub of heavy-duty rubbing compound ๐
Please wear safety goggles when you:re spraying! 22:37
My dear old mom bought a Grand National in 1986. She was born in 1897 which made her close to 90 years old. I asked her why she needed such a hot rod she said
"Oh, everyone is doing it, and it's fun!"
As I remember she had ordered it with a 235 hp engine, and she had it in a two tone Coral and Coral Beige. Yeah!
She was ticketed on the Hollywood Freeway do 90mph, when she was 90. I was with her one time whe she went to get her hair done,
she drove a couple blocks going the wrong way on a one way street. I yelled "Ma, ya can do this." She said
"Oh sure you can, everybody does it, it's too hard going all the way around!"
When she died at 103, I took it out and did 103 mph, just for her.
Looks fantastic, great job๐
