FORGOTTEN Vintage Arctic Cat Pantera Snowmobile – Will It RUN AND RIDE again? – Car Mod Pros Portal

I found an amazing deal on a 1976 Arctic Cat Pantera 5000 snowmobile. This vintage sled has been sitting in a shed and was last licensed in 1999. It appears to be in really good shape. I’m going to attempt to get it running, and immediately put it in the ditch FULL THROTTLE!

  1. I know this is an old video, but YES more of this stuff in addition to all the other great content. Growing up in Ohio by the Michigan border, and now living in the south, i really miss being able to go out and rip some snow. Great name for the sled too!

  2. D the first 12 years of my life was in Idaho and the Polaris we had I will smile. The memory I had was a nice finger drift my dad and I shot through.well long story short I picked myself up and I had two snow bullets in my nose. Thank you for the memory

  3. Derek, I’ve spent the last 15 years blind in my left eye from a stupid accident. With just one eye a guy can live his life but the quality is diminished somewhat, mainly because you lose your depth of field, meaning you can’t judge how far away things are. That makes welding and soldiering in particular really tough. And you can’t catch a ball or play ping pong worth a hoot. So when you are cleaning out carbs, do yourself a favor and wear safety goggles because you know how that stuff blows back on you. I sure wish I could go back in myself!

  4. The second generation Pantera chassis has a special aluminum bulkhead that keeps the motor planted. No twisting on the mounts when all the horses are let loose. They built the XC racer out of this chassis for two seasons . As such, the chassis makes a great basis for a vintage twin drag sled. It’s much easier to keep the CVT clutches aligned with the lack of flex, and it’s a light tub. Swap out the skid for a newer aluminum off of an El Tigre , add a rubber track and modernize the clutches and hop up the engine and you can have quite the vintage weapon for short turf strip drags. I’ve always felt Cat made a mistake not updating this chassis but keeping the stiff engine cradle. Instead I guess the bean counters won and the next gen was just a widened El Tigre bulkhead with a Panther tunnel. This tub was made for 1976 to 1979 models. Pantera 500 FA and 500 FC and 1976 340 FA Cross Country and 1977 LC 340 Cross Country factory racers.
