Part 2 of 5: Buick 1 Derek 0. The last time I showed up to work on this Buick, I struck out. This time, I’m not taking no for an answer! One way or another I’m going to try to drive this car home 100 miles after it’s been off the road for 23 years! Turns out, these starters are not easy to find or fix. Something maybe fire and a large hammer will fix? Also, let’s ignore the windshield. You don’t need’em. Let’s see how this goes – HANG ON!

  1. That headliner issue thing you have. I try to carry a couple of the 60 pound pull magnet that you find at the Home Depot. They come in handy for holding tools and screws but have used them for headliners and wires and other things.

  2. Help bleed brakes? Its called a stick, between the pedal and the seat. Especially if its an electric seat then you can just use the forwards/backwards switch. It takes time but you don't have to hassle the wife.

  3. I have fixed a few of these era Delco starters with new brushes only in about 20 minutes. Brushes cost 33 cents from the Buick dealer the first time I replaced a set. Now? Might not even be available.

  4. This reminds me of the time I drove
Two lady's from Toronto to Montreal. I had rented a car and it was in the time that the government
Changed from miles to k. 60 was 100 and I am on the 401. The speed limit was 100.. but not k. The writing
For k was on top of the miles. I thought I was going 100 but I was going like 60. I am in the fast lane. After 9 hours oof a 4 hour trip, I look down and it done on me this car had been changed. I had cops get behind
For a ways, and then turn off. I didn't rabbit seeing them. It wasn't long after I realized what was going on. Why were cans coming up on me flashing their lights. I wasn't moving over.

  5. When u pulled it in your garage at the end the way it sounded reminded me of the scene in christine when the fury chugged back into the shop smoking after being on fire from killing everyone at the gas station

  6. My dad had a '63 Lesabre that he turned into a Wildcat after some nice guys stole it and set it on fire with the windows rolled up- it never really caught but that interior sure had a nice melty smell…
The police found it and impounded it, he hotwired it and drove it home sitting on an old wicker lawn chair, then I followed him around the junkyards on saturdays for awhile as he gradually pieced it back together. Beauteous old car.

  7. I would likely just love on the rig just the way it is. Now that it is mechanically sounder ish, I would probably work on. A few things cosmetically, thanks for the awesome content, my dad and I had an 81 regal, we dreamed of having a grand national, we just never had the budget

  8. I wonder why he hasn't just started taking fuel strainers on the revivals. Pull the fuel through a strainer into a filter and when the strainer clogs take it apart spray it out with some brake clean and reuse

  9. We,our family ,had a 1964,Buick LeSabre station wagon, with a (445) wildcat , NOW Days I find out that (445) was the ft.lbs of Torque not the cubic inch nor the horsepower! They played games with HP.ratingd ,back then!!
