Another GREAT video Derek!!!
We love old cars because they'll talk with us… they understand us as we understand them. New cars are too full of themselves to have a decent conversation with us. They're so caught up with computers, fuel injectors, big stereos, air conditioners, power seats, power windows, power everything else, they don't know how to be REAL cars. My step-father had a '50 Pontiac, and Mom had a '55 Olds. They were good, honest cars and pretty well the last of an era.
Nope, don't get the Cordoba. Put the 1500 toward something more salvageable.
Yoga pants. Approved. 👍
"Not you. The guy in the couch back there"
Looks behind me*
She sounds great !!
I owned 2, 1951 packards,a 2door and a 4door. Both were running, and tan so quiet and smooth sometimes you couldnt tell they was running.same motor that the military used in the boats like press Kennedy ran when he was in the service. These cars were heavy! If you hit a small car,you just hose of the big chrome bumper and kept going.'52& "51 models looked much the same. Ive heard that Hank sr actually died in a packard not a Cadillac, but im not 100% on that.packard was a luxury car that was as good or better than Cadillac .Great video man, thanks to you and your family.
22:39 my wife and I are watching and you point at me, then my wife who is in a recliner, no lie! We had a good laugh thanks Derek 😂😂😂😂
The 6 volt cables shoud be fine with the 12 volt because P=UI, so less current needed when 12 volt…
When you poped the hood, @17:24 it sounds like you said it's like a dick hangin…..
That Battery, The Usable, is an East Penn Manufacturing aka Deka Battery. It had an issues with connector appearance or a case issues (scratch or date code issue, anyhoo, they can be had for anywhere from $79-$99 and they are the same as a fully labeled Deka Battery. Deka Batteries are better than most as they use Full Lead Frame grid technology. Most battery manufacturers cut the sides and bottom of the frame off and remelt it as a cost saving measure, Deka leaves the full frame intact as it allows for longer life and stronger CCA's than advertised.
Find a Deka distributor near you, you will not be disappointed. When I worked there I got my Father In-Law a 2nd Marine Battery for him to utilize for his Frankenstein El Camino project, 22 years later and he is still using that battery…
I know I'm a little late to the party, but if you'r still checking your "old episode" comments, I hope you fix her up and make her the shop limo or use her when you are going out for a fine dining experience. Great find as usual. I also hope that the mustard car you went to see is one car that should stay with that guy…..forever. I think you should grab up that ramp truck to fix up for when one of the boys takes his first car to the track or when you need an extra carry/tow vehicle for a family road trip to a showing of all the families favorite cars.
🤘😁👍 Hello Hello From Canada!!!

Find me a 52/53 Packard 400. Pls
I rode around in a cordoba as a kid. That was before parents used car seats lol. Or at least my parents didn’t. Plenty of room to slide around in a turn. It was a peice! Remember it being worked on a lot
sniper aint such a bad ordeal…
Collecvters Item
Peice of History
Keep the Packard
no to the cordoba
You could have hired a farmer with a mule and lantern to go in front you on the trip back home
Derek, I get a huge kick out of your throwback comments and off the wall sayings. It would be entertaining to see a reel of all your comments about country and western singers. Example: Wonder if Alabama is ever gonna do anything again, what’s Clint Black up to these days. 😂
id leave that cordoba sitting right where it was, the motor in it would be a good motor to tinker with if theres another car to put it in, but the cordoba needs to become a refrigerator in its next life
2 grand back in the 50s for a car was an expensive car, in 1972 my dad bought a brandnew monte carlo he payed 3400 and change for it
Luckiest man.
If I won that house, I'd flip it.
Was that a Jeremiah Johnson reference before opening the hood?? 🤣🤣
8 volt battery
Nobody wants smell visions Dennis 😀 I don't think you're videos would do well.
Derek that Packard should have the starter to turn over by pushing down the gas petal. The starter button must have been added. We had a 52 Packard clipper straight 8 automatic
the old gal wants to live.
she deserves the full send resto.
someone loved her and it shows.
that assisted leg lift? i felt that. lol.
i just dont get detroit. this sort of body styling and build is so beautiful.
imagine what they could do with modern composites and metals.
cmon engineer fellers.
2500 bucks in 1951 adjusted for inflation is about 30k today..
That Cordova is a POS. Hard pass.
Must be something about old inline engines. I have a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 Liter that runs like a sewing machine as well
I think that would be awesome to be fuel injected
I'd like to give you a big thanks Derek..
Your videos are so relaxing/therapeutic for me.. nothing I love more after a hard day than to sit back alone, dark room and cigarette I'm hand and binge on you wrenching..
Lol alot of time I put your vids on while I'm out working on my cars too..
Anyway bud , thx.. you touch more lives than you'd ever imagine..
Thx again
The screw driver disk on key ring, if it is colt firearms it is a rare item. Also a front pocket find!
im a 73 year old mechanic i have kids older than you
check the points first not the coil
your choice in oil leaves me amazed using synthetic diesel oil in these old girls is amazing it foams up and turns to water in the sump should use valvoline mineral oil
That house you are talking about is too shiny.
