Body Work with a Fork lift and Winch – Can Independence Chevelle be fixed? – Car Mod Pros Portal

I’m attempting to get the Independence Chevelle (1972 Chevrolet Chevelle), patched up for one last burnout competition at the freedom factory. My tools? Fork lift and ramp truck.

  1. Derek, i been beepoppin through your content on this car. before i made the offer to forge a knife from a spring..that was before i learned just now that its a memorial car..listen…i still want a piece of it but i wanns tell a fella ive got some IBeam from ground zero..id like to combine the steels. and send ya back a knife made from both.
    just let a fella know..
and no sir, i dont want no clout. just my way of saying i appreciate ya.
    thanks
    Shane

  2. Museum piece . Car #1 in the collection. Big screen showing all INDEPENDENCE action over the years on a loop. Lifesize cut out of a guy himself and pool to throw quarters for kids . I figure a hunert grand a year for charity.

  3. Yard art. Put a 350 in it so it's mobile,or to take to events. Park it someplace by the shop or where you and anyone that's at the shop can see it. Take her to town once in a while to knock out the cobwebs. She's had a good time it's time to retire and take it easy. You're right about not hanging new sheet metal, it will look nice but never be the same car.

  4. I’m for a full restoration but I do understand wanting the original metal. The one thing about these years of Chevelle you can basically make a whole new car. It’s Independence no matter what you decide to do with it. A collaboration restoration may be the ticket. I know you care about this one so whatever is done will be the right thing. Keep saving them and keep up the great work.

  5. Ni, I made a comment once before about the strips. There are 15 strips on your car when OUR flag has 13, Our flag stars with red and ends with red. Your car starts with white and ends with white. All you have to do is paint over to two white strips at the bottom of both side of the car with black paint, Please.

  6. I would retire independence. It would cost too much to fix it up right you could find another body cheaper than fixing the one you have. But like you said it won't be the same anymore. I would take your blue Chevelle race car and use that one at the track.

  7. i love that you are saving a car you saved because of what it represents your a true AMERICAN with the love of country i wish more folks had my favorite car is the 69 chevelle but this independance car is way cool i love the way you treat the car that others would have long ago taken to crusher keep up the work love your videos and your family love watching you work

  8. Hey Derrick, the spray you use to " stabilize " rust is phosphoric acid. It turns iron oxide to iron phosphate. You shouldn't use a spray form without using respiratory protection. Buy Ospho in liquid form, where protective gloves and wipe or brush it on, after knocking off all loose rust first. Ospho only works on tight rust.
