My stock 305 when it was throttle body fuel injected got right around 20 mpg highway. It's been changed into a horrible amalgamation of street and racecar that's really fun for 15 minutes a time, sorta miss the days it was that simple to just hop in and road trip somewhere in it. it used to just chew up the miles like it was nothing.
So tear it down. Don't fix it up. God forbid you actually save something worth while…

My bird of same year runs at coolant temp of 210-220 usually even with new head gaskets, radiator, water pump, good AFR and 160 thermostat. Fan is always on aswell, these cars just run hot I guess

I would find some factory RS wheels or Z wheels and put er on it.
Had the same one in high school but mine was red and was in way better shape but that was 20 years ago so yeah probably explains why it was in better shape. I’d pay about anything to have that car again. I’d probably still have it if my parents didn’t make me sell it after I got my first speeding ticket in it but what do you expect a 16 year old boy is not going to think he’s a race car driver in that weapon lol😂 Thanks for this video it brought up a lot of great memories.

A good starter car but to finish it up inside will cost alot of money and rust will be alot to do correctly if you count your time. Still nice to look at. I think it would be a great learner rig for your boys to do interior and fix ALL THE RUST , then decide on retirement someplace for it.🎉
