Right after I spent 30 hours on a mini C5 Corvette restoration, someone rear-ended me. This person not only has Cut-Rate insurance but he also tried to flee the scene. In this video, I tell you the cool story of chasing him down in my Corvette and my awesome Air Force cousin jumping out of the car to block him off in the street. No hit and run for this guy. We also have a chat with my good friend Samcrac and get his insight on what do right before heading to a good body shop for an estimate. I hope everyone learns something here because getting offered cash to go away could be tempting but is almost always a bad idea.

  1. I cannot drive without shoes!! You’re crazy! Lol. Best driver shows imo are old skool vans, I’ve never driven anything better than when I’m wearing my vans.

  2. Every insurance company does this, it's a complete scam!
Lucky you have the time and resources to deal with this. Most people are not that lucky.

  3. Def had a similar experience. I bought a turbo Malibu LTZ and not even 2 weeks later I was sideswiped on the highway leaving work one night. I didn’t call the police but I got a picture of the license plate and the drivers license and contact info. (That’s why when I heard you didn’t the call the police I knew it wasn’t a good start lol). After a few days the guy tried to say that it wasn’t his fault as well and due to not filing a police report I was pretty much screwed on my end. However I got in contact with my insurance and took it to the shop if their choosing. I was quoted 1800$ initially and my insurance was willing to pay (minus my deductible). Left my car with the shop and they got back to me saying that the impact broke some sort of beam in my door so it HAD to be replaced. Estimate went up to around 3600$ but my insurance ended up paying. I had only had the insurance for 2 weeks and to my surprise my rates didn’t go up at all. In fact when I renewed 6months later I had a lower monthly payment 🤷🏽‍♂️ I’ve been with geico ever since

  4. This is the downside to living in Chicago I went through this kind of s*** when I lived in San Antonio and now that I live in a quieter neighborhood in Florida I don't have that problem

  5. Unfortunately, this is going to become more common place with all the advertising for low insurance rates these days. People don't realize that when they get into an accident that those insurance companies really don't pay. All that does is make everyone else's insurance rates go up. These teenagers and kids in their twenties don't understand and even more so, don't care. All they see is $20 some dollars a month for insurance and think they are set.

  6. What about the legal angle? He fled the scene of an accident, right? And the police did get called eventually, right? So there's a police report?

  7. I just had 2 scratches repaired while my car was in the body shop for a rear end crash, so the paint was already in the gun and those 2 scratches cost me $983.00. The other guys insurance paid $3900.00 to repair the crash damage to the rear and the crash happened while my wife was leaving a gas station. How fast was the car going when it hit. Point, it was a 'good tap' rather the a crash. On you vette there is a lot of labor, removing the 'bumper', removing all the lights and emblems, repairing, repainting, and reinstalling everything. Well over $2500.00. Then you have to address the exhaust. The tip alone would be $150+. The bracket is probably damaged $135+ for that. As far as guy that hit you, take him a brochure from a mortuary. The MOST important thing: Everybody MUST have a dash cam. Even though my car was hit in the rear, the dash cam recorded the impact and the guy telling my wife that he was sorry.

  8. I have a 2005 mustang gt with almost identical metallic flake in the dark red paint and someone backed into the passenger side of my car. It cost 2 grand to fix and repaint the front left fender and door. I made the guys insurance company have a Lincoln body shop fix it. It took almost a month to fix it. The body shop had to call the insurance company a few times to get more money due to more damage being found. They also gave me a rental which was nice.

  9. You both are awesome and I watch ya both ….. I had this happen with me to sucks in the end I told there insurance it's ok my dad's a lawyer we will handle this in court there insurance ended up says hold on hold on and gave me the $1200 to fix my rear bumper….. lol my dad's not a lawyer lol

  10. Unfortunately, if your insurance company DOES pay for the repair, you ARE going to wind up with your rates going up (or not coming down when you pass an age threshold).
