I take a 1200 Mile Road Trip for a 1966 Chevelle Rescue. I put together a 355 small block chevy with some parts laying around the garage. I loaded that up and drove it to North Dakota, where I purchased this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle site unseen. I spent weekend putting in the motor and transmission – then attempt a first start with the new engine followed by the long ride home alone!

  1. Thanks that was a great video I really enjoyed it I know what you mean about them radiators not cooling down that Motors hell they didn't want to cool down the straight six back then straight face telling it like it is I loved it you are definitely Discovery Channel material look forward to your next show

  2. One thing that has worked for me in the past when the engine runs hot .As crazy as it seems i turn the heater controls to hot and turn the fan on full blast . It provides another way to cool the engine coolant. And of course you have to open the windows on the vehicle.

  3. hey there fella i come to you from 6 years in the future hey got some news for ya . your doing ok . your going to move both out of state up in subscribers and out in the spare tire region . maybe lay off the cold snacks a little . your going to come across a Chevelle here in the future its going to be pretty beat up and painted like old glory . just buy it dont think about it just do it . then name it independence . you will thank me later . again maybe slow down on the cold snacks .ok well there Derek um oh yeah your videos get way better . not that this was bad . you just get better . and well maybe a little thicker . again with the cold snacks . alright buddy i got to go its a long drive back to the future and my ride is here . see in the future . cold snacks Derek remember cold snacks . drop it down in low real low .

  4. Hey old buddy! I've watched you for all these years and somehow missed this jem! I truly appreciate the work you have put into your channel to make it what it is now. I feel encouraged watching this that someday I can do some cool things that you have and maybe make a video or two of it. Thanks for being you. Junk's Automotive

  5. Derek may have put on a few pounds, but he is the same guy now that he was six years ago. His video production has sure evolved. That last part about "a big thanks to my cousin or nephew or whatever the hell you are" is just priceless.

  6. My how you've grown! I love the old stuff and your latest content, just seems a natural progression. Proud to have watched the changes in your media maturity over the years. Keep doing your thing, Derek!!

  7. I like coming back and watching the old eps. He gave me a lot of inspiration to work on the cars I have. Early shows were all about budget builds. I revived a 63 Dodge 880 that sat for 30 years just by watching his vids and getting idea's. Today I pulled the 46 Dodge out of the storage shed and got that going. Like to see him do a show of setting lifters for the old flatheads.

  8. A shroud and electric fan might help with the cooling.
    Suggestions for the future:
Paint it and wrap it to look like NASCAR
    Spoiler and ground effects
    NASCAR side pipes
    Remove chrome and hood ornament
Removeable carbon fiber hood with pins
Racing seats/guages/fuel cell/ stainless steel rollbar
    Suspension upgrades when 💰 available
    Racing steering wheel and linelock
    NASCAR knockoff wheels and tires
I had a 64 Chevelle dirt tracker that was a BLAST to drive!
    WHY did I sell it??🤷🏁

  9. I could just sit around and watch your videos all day man…wait a min…. I have been. Well, too late to get a start on anything now… might as well just watch the next video in line. Or maybe I'll just take a nap. Thanks Derek.
