26. 14:52 I was thinking there could be real problems with existing micro-cracks at 14:16; I suspect the cover is riddled with micro-cracks and essentially it has no capability of withstanding any internal pressure – in ASME speak, although not a pressure vessel, per se, it will still need to withstand membrane (due to direct pressure) and bending (due to the topology of cover) stresses which act to propagate those cracks; the engine vibration (and any associated deflections of the cover caused by that) and any pressure pulsing will exacerbate this as fatigue cycling.
