In todays episode we are trying our hand at carpentry! We are going to try and build a self standing unit that will act as stairs for the second level, a bar and cook top with a sink, and a bathroom. Come along as we work with wood and glue instead of metal and welders!

Might want to add a lip to the steps on the bar side so ya dont get sand and dirt falling onto the bar or the food/drinks on the bar. Sorry if thats the plan, just wanted to type this before forgetting.
Safety tip round the corners on the counter top. Point corners are an accident waiting to happen.
Trying to understand why you didn’t just build it on your platform
DAMIT soon as I made the last or 1st comment video explaining how/where bathroom door is & going to open, my mind didn't follow,my bad
It would have been much better to have made a slide door for bathroom, would cut down on someone walking into door as it opens outward into your main area of your Party Barge
…DUMB QUESTION: how do you get it outside?
Are you putting vents on the outside wall of the toilet
why can I see this tipping over in the water?
You should add a porthole to the outside for light!
BourbonMoth is near you, that would make an insane colab
How do you decide on the final cut for a video like this?
Hate to be this guy, could you move the sink to the other end of the bar where there isn’t a through access to your storage? To give more room for that access rather than the sink hanging down.
The lineal strength from front to back is going to be a concern, cool project , but definitely needs reinforcement from b ow to stern to keep the pontoons from stressing
Don’t forget to make thickened epoxy fillets on each joint before glassing over it,
will massively increase strength and stop the fibreglass from cracking or having any voids that water can get in through
Fibreglass without fillets under the corners will always have voids no matter how hard you try
Are you going to glue your joints?
Hi guys I’m a finish carpenter and have done lots of boats at a boat yard also (I like working on boats!!) nice work looks great it’s not as easy as it looks to make something like this and make it look good . I think the structure will be plenty strong when it’s fiber glassed the only thing I’d do different is mount the doors internally and set a frame inside as the glassing will build out the walls and you’ll find it had to mount the doors to the face side. Also water will run down and go inside between the two faces. If you mount internally it will be less hasssle for ye. Well done really enjoying the build have fun
Two words , Track Saw
Heavy D Sparks is also building a pontoon boat, sound similar. Just FYI.
Put a drain hole in the toilet area for blokes who’s aim isn’t “on†especially in choppy water.
Why did you mount both your cabinet doors hinged on the same side?
Don't put the sink in front of the cupboard door, it'll make it hard to use your storage.
Dude youre mad if you dont put recessed shelves above that bar, such a good use of the space. Bonus point if they swing out to reveal more shelves behind.
Put the sink in the corner. Closer to the sink that will be in the bathroom for plumbing. Also the plumbing won't be right in the way inside the cupboards. â¤â¤
Just a simple tip when making framing boxe, make sure the top timber and bottom timber run to the outside edges with the 2 vertical studs inside them- the 2 vertical studs then support the top plate for downward pressure ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ¼
Still not seeing much sheer strength for the second floor, side to side. If the bathroom/stairs are intended to be that reinforcement, you're pretty much relying on two pieces of two foot wide plywood to prevent the entire upper platform loaded with people from falling to the left or right when a wave hits from those directions. Maybe you've already got something planned though, and I hope I'm wrong.
I know you’ve got endless doubts on this but I’m excited to see this thing on the water. One thought though, you might want to put a partition between the stairs and the bar just because stuff off of people’s feet will fall onto your bar which might be a bit gross
The risers should have a 3/4 inch/ 20mm angle, gives more room for the foot.
I would 100% not build the stairs like that.
Quadristeps
I think you should flip the one cabinet door around hinges facing into the wind so that when you are underway and moving the cabinet door wants to automatically close and not catch air and open. Also would be cool to add in a couple subwoofers to the stairs because a big wooden and fiberglass box would just be perfect!?
I keep looking at the size of the build and the size of the unit door …….
Maybe a sliding window in the bathroom for light and ventilation ?
Love how the bar is the only part built to last 😠In all seriousness, I truly hope that thing will last as it is missing a lot of frame to make it stable, especially over time.
The steps could be wider than the base – would look way better.
You will discover that your internal space will need to be wider. also there is no reason not to have a small opeaning window for ventalation of such a small tight space.
That's a nice sail! 😀
Those stairs are good storage! Use them 👌
You need open rises on those stairs or the runs(treads) are going to feel too short for most peoples feet, it should look almost more like a ladder then stairs.
I would consider moving that whole unit to the middle of the boat to distribute the weight move evenly since it seems a bit overly constructed.
Then put an access door on the starboard side to make it much easier to make use of that storage space under the stairs.
Also put storage cabinets above the counter top, and a microwave cubby.
Refrigerator below the counter top too.
Don't forget windows and vents
Hey, I hope to fucking God you didn’t do anything with that counter yet I would put the sink farther back in the corner so you have more moving space and also it’s easier to take away pipes and everything else you don’t have to follow my helpful stuff but I’m here for some of us
You really should think about a canvas (with vinyl windows) with snaps so you can remove it to cover below the second story incase rain comes. I would also think about making the hot tub area removeable. I do not think it would winter well and I think it is going to be like a plow in the water. It might cut your speed in half and kill you MPG. I still question how hard it is going to be to get that thing out of the shop and onto a trailer.
Don't place the sink above the cabinet
hey Shoresey!!!!!
My concern is your waist bashing the bar top. You should create a chamfer on the right to meet the wall so it's not so harsh, people passing close will be bashing their side on it. Loving the build!
