In this episode we get a new dual pass radiator and cooling fan and build a new mounting bracket for the radiator to sit further away from the engine. It all went really well, until it all went really wrong 🙁

  1. Actual radiator mounts would prevent that issue. Upper and lower with rubber isolated mounts. Not tape and an upper hose to hold it in place.
Fans mount to shrouds not with cheap nylon straps.

  2. You need to check fundamental things like clearance before bolting everything back and destroying parts . Damn that's a rookie mistake . And have you realised all your mistakes cost you money .

  3. Chris you really need to buy and build a truck and trailer. Next project?? I mean you say you want to build a drift car you gonna need one bruh. That would have helped in this video with the car being stuck at your parents. If you had a truck you could have just took it back to the shop and done all this there and not have to worry about daylight.

  4. Hey dude I love your channel! Keep it coming you do great stuff. I was wondering are you going to consider putting a supercharger on the FJ

  5. As builders and garage built fast cars and trucks lovers, we live and we learn. Back to the drawing board and, we will get it right👍👍

  6. The thermostat isn't there to make the heater work, it regulates flow so the coolant in the radiator has time to cool before it's allowed back into the motor -.- You also need rubber insulators under the radiator otherwise the vibration from the motor will cause the mount to rub through the bottom.

  7. bypass thermostat? no!
get use to over heating never cut the thermostat out the bottom plate diverts water from radiator keeping it in the head for faster heat up cutting it will cause erratic temps and overheating

  8. In all honesty mate(sorry I don't actually no your name ) your biggest problem is your doing everything by yourself, why tho?,were are your friends?
Look at TJ Hunt he always has everyone helping him and that's how he gets shit done right!
Do yourself a favour get some fuckn friends.

  9. All you needed was some ducting around your old setup and it would have worked fine. The air was just blowing around the radiator and intercooler. You could have started by putting a sheet of aluminum across the bottom of the radiator and intercooler to create a low pressure zone behind the radiator so air gets sucked through.

  10. As denzel washington have said in his commencement speech on dillard university. "Fail big" anyway, keep up the good work man. Team chris will always be here to support you 👌🏽☝🏽

  11. Have you thought about opening the bumper above the intercooler either with holes or a big square you can then mesh? Air can go directly over the rad then.

  12. Running no tstat is a very bad idea. A constantly flowing cooling system will not sit in the rad to cool long enough.. So while it'll take longer to heat once it does heat up the coolants heat wont dissipate efficiently.. all bad.. not only that you're gonna fuck your ects readings and waste a shit ton of gas on cold starts.

  13. There is no benefit when you delete the thermostat . The cooling system will not work properly with out it . The thermostat is the heart of the system. Good Luck!

  14. Take needle nose pliers, pince each side of the tube that has the hole. It slows down the flow through that specific tube. Then, add a bit of JB weld or radiatior repair putty over the hole. I race with these radiators hooked up to a Chevy crate 604 at 5-7K rpm, 180-235 temp and it never have leak issues!

  15. Leave the pipe with the radiator cap in it on there if your radiator top is lower than the engine. That way you can "burp" the air out of the engine. Good for your buddy, he made the correct call. Also, your cooling system will not work properly without the thermostat installed and it will take it a long time to warm-up to a good operating temperature, if it ever does. Running the engine "too cool," especially the engine oil (oil needs to be 180 degrees minimum.), can be harmful to your engine. It may make your ECU default to a permanent "cold start" condition and add to much fuel to the engine, which will soon wash down your piston rings and lead to cylinder damage from not having enough lubrication.

  16. I watch this channel to learn, and these kinds of mistakes are more valuable than seeing you just shred through the build. Cheers!

  17. What's the is Kylie guys instagram? In the future I want to build a 2jz brz and I'm trying to find out as much info and recourses before the time comes. Any way thanks if you can help me out and if I build it any time soon I'd like to look at yours. I live in Washington so that would cool.

  18. You are human men…. mistakes happen…. if we can see those kinds of problems in advanced we all would be Ingeneers… jajajajaja… keep working man. it should be fine the next time…. cheers
