The deadly flooding has submerged some of Venice’s famous landmarks while also damaging homes and businesses; the mayor said it could cost more than a billion dollars to repair.

Listen, lad. I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other kings said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So, I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp, but the fourth one… stayed up! And that's what you're gonna get, lad; the strongest castle in these islands.
Protests. What can they do. Not much

If you live in New Orleans, take notes.
Then a random dude would freeze the water and chase a car which has 2 dude, one with weird donut hair and the other having revolver in his pants, while the chasing dude would scream "IT'S VENEZIA STOP CALLING IT VENICE YOU'RE MAKING ME MAD, YOU'RE IN ITALY SO CALL IT VENEZIA LIKE THE ITALIANS!!!"
Not just in venice, indonesia is more worst than this! And nobody talk about this.
Its not climate change.. Its a plaque
Jakarta, too.
When your school was gonna do a italy trip in a few years and you were excited about venice
why
Venice canal is dry as a bone now. https://weather.com/news/trending/video/venice-canals-run-dry-2-months-after-historic-flooding?isSubsequent=true
I mean i've been in water like that high. It didn't do anything to my city. But when the water goes fast. That's bad.
The more you complain about the flooding. The worse it's gonna get. Like just try to enjoy the water. Like stop thinking about all the bad things about it. And why didn't they think it was going to be flooded? If you put 10 million wooden boards under muddy watery land?
You can't stop floods or tsunamis, good luck Venice.
Venice's subsidence was recognized as a major issue decades ago, when scientists realized that pumping groundwater from beneath the city, combined with the ground's compaction from centuries of building and poor fountations was causing the city to settle………climate change? Mmmmmmmmmm………
I cannot feel sorrow for them. Venice is a city of scam and subtle extortion.
Yeah, you all know who you are, you thieving restauranteurs.
I wish I could look at the owner of the restaurant that scammed me for €200 crap wine now…. 😂😂😂😂
The price they charge for coffee in St Marks square, they have the money to fix the place.
Venice has been pumping ground water from under the city for centuries.. They only stopped doing that some years ago..So the city has settled and shifted towards the east…The mainland Venice is fine, it's just where the most important landmarks are that is in serious trouble
Hmmm….so Venice would be first to sink due to climate change then us next destroyed due to too strong tropical typhoons one after another caused by climate change…by the biggest countries that still are the biggest polluters on earth. U and C.
Move, problem solved!
And all the country's turn away from Israel . In the end only GOD will right the wrongs of man.
So a city that is just a fee inches above sea level is flooding? Omg!!!!
What a load of rubbish to say climate change is responsible. Venice is built on logs driven into mud and has been sinking for a long time. The Guardian is not somewhere I go for information but the did a good story on Venice floods. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/gallery/2015/jun/16/history-flooding-sinking-city-venice-in-pictures
