23. To the people commenting "Duh, it's an active volcano. What would you expect?!" Have you ever heard of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius? Have any of you ever been to either? They attract 2.5 million tourists a year, and people climb that active volcano every day and they're some of Italy's biggest tourist attractions. Who actually thinks when climbing a volcano on a tour that it will explode and kill you? They would have been under the impression that the company did its due diligence and it was safe to be in the vicinity. It was a random explosion that no one foresaw, a total accidental tragedy. Have some compassion for the lives that have been cut short and their friends and family reading these.

No one could’ve predicted win this volcano would erupt – apparently Trish has been allowed to walk on this island and in the caldera for a long time – my own personal opinion I don’t think it’s ever safe to walk on an island where an active volcano could erupt at any time . As I understand tourists who went to this island signed a waiver apparently stating that they knew there might be a chance of danger and they would not hold anyone accountable. I don’t know this for sure yet but it’s a terrible thing that this happened.
