I’m not likely to respond to comments to this video. I feel I said all I have to say in the video.

I’m taking a hiatus and I’m not saying when I’ll be posting videos to EricTheCarGuy again.

I’m not wining or complaining about YouTube or who’s fault this is. The simple fact is that I have too much on my plate right now and I need to address that. Given that my YouTube videos aren’t paying the bills these days, I’ve decided to pursue other opportunities until I figure out what to do next.

Until then, you might check out my videos on ETCG1: https://www.youtube.com/user/ETCG1?spfreload=5

I haven’t started a Patron account because I never felt right about taking money from my fans without giving something in return. Instead, consider a Premium Membership at my website. You’ll have access to 200+ exclusive videos.

  1. Eric can I have this question please : 2002 Honda Accord v6 I put in new crankshaft sensor messed the timing belt because timing sensor out of place so have to remove belt but spend time putting back to timing dead center , there’s still little knocking sound and P1366 shows up, should I just run engine to just Hunt itself to TDC the timing❓❓please advise thanx

  2. I said this on another YouTubers page. I bow to you guys that are able to make it doing these videos. I’ve always wanted to do it on the side but wouldn’t be willing to put in 100% effort to make it what I want. Probably the rarest Statement on the planet but I Love my day job too much lol! Glad you’re trucking along! I’ve loved watching all of your content. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

  3. Take it easy man, I know how it is. Just need time for yourself. Good luck in all your future adventures. We will be right if you ever decide to return. Thanks again for all your support and knowledge through the years.

  4. i remember when this video was out and i watched and honestly i cried. I didn't want the videos to stop and i genuinely enjoy everything you put out to the world but i understood that you are human too and we all need a break and downtime to enjoy life, you've got a family and they need energy and time to spend with you too. I totally understand and it's the sort of thing i'm trying to achieve myself in my own way. Have a job that a driven by passion and enjoyment. I mean even being excited like you said to get to work and accomplish something and what's amazing about what you do Eric is to be able to share that enjoyment and help people at the same time. You are a true gentleman Eric and the world needs more people like you. If it doesn't feel right and it becomes almost painful to continue then something is wrong and you should probably take a step back and take a good look at what's happening and maybe what you're missing. I've been having fun and staying dirty now for 7 years now. I've been in the auto trade in different ways for about as long and i probably would have given up some time ago now if channels like yours didn't exist and keep me excited and motivated to learn more and keep on going on. Peace and joy to you Eric, screw the haters and rock on to the fans!

  5. Eric, I haven’t always agreed with you, and as you know, I haven’t been afraid to say so. I do however respect you and what you are doing and have done. This video is 2 years old and a lot has happened. You and I are the same age. I’ve been doing my job for almost 30 years. I understand your position completely. The truck has happened since this was published. You have done a lot. I remember certain videos, like the engine swap in the S-15 you did for the family of a friend that passed. I recall your saying you didn’t charge for the work done. That says a lot about your character. You have a family to support, and they are your top priority. The truck is a wonderful project. The fairmont wasn’t without it’s problems, but it was reality, not like some fluff on Motortrend. Just do what you feel is right for you.

  6. Been a long term subscriber. Even the newest videos I've been watching the past month you still don't seem happy. I love your videos and how you want your heart and soul into it. You're an awesome mechanic, tech and YouTuber. I'm excited for the future videos.

  7. Hi Eric
I am pushing 70 years old and I just found your channel. I've gone back and watched a lot of the videos that you have done.
I have to say this, there may not be money in it for you, however the time and trouble that you have taken to produce these videos has helped thousands of people that work on their cars, if not more. Being that I am old and haven't worked on cars since back in the day of muscle cars and V fan belts when you could replace a thermostat without tearing half the engine apart, what you have shared has helped me to work on these new monstrosities (lawn mowers with car wheels on them.. lol).
I guess what I am saying in my own way is a heart felt thanks to you and what you have shared with the YouTube viewers. Making YouTube videos is not as easy as one might think, if you want a good video it takes a lot of hard work and I'm sure you know that already. The content in your videos and the way you present yourself as well as the subject matter is top notch. What ever you decide to do in the future, I wish you well.
God Bless and thanks for sharing with us.

  8. You're a great teacher on Youtube!!!! You helped my son learn mechanics on youtube 5 to 10 years ago. He is now a CAT Mechanic for 3 years, and is the lead mechanic of Complete Teardown and Rebuild of CAT Equipment. Oshkosh Wisconsin has an excellent Tech School called Fabtech – 12 month Aug to Aug Course and goes through fixing the entire machine.

  9. This comment probably isn't relevant anymore, but video editing can be a real pain in the ass. I love to do it. It can be a lot of fun but it's the kind of thing that becomes really tedious if you have to do it.

  10. Me and you Eric have the same interest. I really want to do the fairmont project pretty much as you have got it. I am from the UK and currently work as a vehicle mechanic in the British Army. I am hoping that I can ask you questions about the fairmont when I am going to proceed. I really love the ford fairmont and also your dad's old truck. I currently have a mitsubishi shogun sport warrior that i am doing up. Take care :).

  11. T stands for the tires…………check the tire wear from my "BELTS" Tires, look at the wear? it could be almost bald.

  12. Belts, its something l learned from a driving school when l was 16 years old. lm 55 now.
B stands for the condition of the body of the car. (look it over front to back)
E stands for the exhaust coming out of the exhaust. ( when the car runs)
L stands for the leaks coming from the bottom of the car on the driveway.
S stands for for the smoke coming out of the car. Blue or black

This is for everyone, l bought the best cars from this acyro

  13. Uh, yeah I get the not a lot of return thing. My main channel is trry331 and I am number one on Google for self representation in court. I have 78 subscribers and 8 are me from my multiple channels. I studied film online longer than I studied law. The hours are so long. And I have gotten maybe one like that was, again, not me from one of my other channels. I let your commercials roll. Change it so you make more money and make it work for yourself in your monitization settings. I will not turn you off for too many commercials that cant be skipped. And only a jerk would. A jerk in a beater car.

  14. It's a good thing you finally came back eric. Lol seems like you take YouTube way too seriously. I post regularly busy not on A schedule. I can't believe you are saying your not making enough ha ha. The payments add up alot over time. Even after you stop making videos. Although I think advertisers ease up if you don't post regularly. I hate editing ha ha. I do my vids on my phone and barely edit but you can see a difference. My thing is helping people vs revenue.

  15. Watched you clean a toilet for your meetup and that was entertaining for some reason. I appreciate you want to produce quality content but dont be too hard on yourself you do great work. Your mediocre is better than most peoples good days keep it up.

  16. I was really hoping that when you announced that you were going to start making more ETCG VIDEOS I thought that you would be posting one for today Friday Feb 16th 2018!
