Oregon Becomes First State In Nation To Decriminalize Most Drugs | NBC News NOW
I’m hoping it’s a step in the right direction, and other states take notice.
Another words drugs won the war
THAT'S PRIVILEGE ON A HIGHER LEVEL…WHEN IN ROME..DO WHAT THE ROMES DO !
Homeless problem in Oregon is going to get worse now crime is going to get worse illegal drug sales will go up good job Oregon you are officially the worst state in the United States
I hope it works and lives are saved, if someone wants to get messed up they will find a way
Having an option of treatment for at least a month or a higher fine would of been better. Calling a hotline? Half of the population cant afford phones. People are still going to overdose its just easier now that they know they cam carry some around at all times w out really getting in trouble. You get hard core charges for drinking in public tho. Things need to change all over. Alcohol is the worst and its legal. Now hard core drugs are more accessible i see it on my street more now.
I am all for offering help instead of dealing with jail and making them feel worse. However living in Oregon seeing the problem and meeting new people every day Its hard to say but most dont want help. They pay the fine with money they sold the drugs the cop just let them go with. I've talked to so many been a volunteer for non profit seeking help for addiction and over half the people we tried to help said no and dodnt even want to hear what we had to offer. The homeless camp here is right across from a free detox and shelter for people who do want help. None of the people have even tried to reach out even with offers. Alot of the homeless here like it amd prefer it sadly leading most into a bad lifestyle. This is only going to make it worse. These people will end up with warrants because they will use the money they do have for drugs not for the fine. So ending up in jail anyways on more charges than before. It's so sad these people do need help they are good people but some just dont care and just really dont want help.
I don’t do drugs but I honestly believe that Oregon is doing the right thing
It worked in Portugal, it will work in Oregon. You know who's not happy with this? The Drug Cartels. Al Capone was not happy with making alcohol legal.
Is CHAZZ still open? 😂 Please get rid of the police and legalize all of it. Do it California, Chicago, New York and DC too. As long as they’re willing to stay and deal with any consequences, I’m all for it.
Bad news for private prisons.
Drugs need to be decriminalized on a federal level. They are the basis for the abuse and authoritarian over reach on minorities. No more violence…end prohibition.
I only smoke weed but I think you should be able to do wtf you wanna do. Go Oregon!!
They've had this in Portugal for 20 years now. And it's been wildly successful.
Wow! This is amazing!
I am not a user, nor addict, nor an experimental person; but this makes me happy to hear this! 🙂
I honestly forgot this even happened here. Go home chicken little, the sky is not falling
Oregon seems so loose with drug use. I live in Oregon and some of my friends were aloud to smoke weed in the house at 10, I'm not sure If all of Oregon is like that or my neighborhood is just different tho
Death Penalty For Drug Dealer
Wonder when the rest of the nation will catch up to Oregon
This is actually very interesting. I'm curious if this works in Oregon as well as it worked in Portugal. I wanted US to try it.
They legalized marijuana
People are not smoking more
Just legalize everything that would win the war on drugs and hurt the cartels
Is the actual SELLING of drugs still illegal then just because they can’t tax you on it ???
Nice living with kids in Oregon is gonna be fun. Bobby the Heroin guy is a nice touch for their way to school lmao
reporter stopped in from the friday night homecomeing
Stigma and shame stops alot of people from going of the rails too, expecting decriminalization to work like it does in other countries is as short sited as the war on the drugs was, I think you do have to try it because it is worth finding out but don't just assume it's going to have blatant positive effects on the society and peoples lives.
We have all been super nice to eachother.
Hahahahahahahaha! SO STUPID! Following California straight down the toilet!
So what. People will do drugs without permission as it’s always been. The States have realized there is more money in legal regulation than lame control. So what.
