6. I worked for this company for years, and knew something like this would happen one day. Walmart is nothing like this place for treating their employees like S%#$. But, being a smaller company, they were able to fly under the radar. And ironically, they are Union. Managers and execs are treated like gods, and make outrageous salaries. Recently hired workers make close to minimum wage, in a company that is the definition of corporate greed. A few years ago, while working there, we suffered through a bitter strike. meanwhile the Piece of S%$@ CEO that caused it walked away with a huge bonus in his pocket, while the workers couldn't pay their bills.

33. Gabriel Wilson made up his mind what he was going to do after his exchange with his superior about a request for a transfer to another store. That transfer was most likely denied. He could not tell the boss to take this job and shove it. If he could he would have. He was trapped.

    He did not get what he wanted and staying at the same worksite appeared to have been out of the question to Gabriel, this brings to mind what were his reasons for his request to transfer?

    The likelihood is that Gabriel's time working for Stop and Shop was torture. 
    Employees in general are in a timorous position in society. Work does not happen in America unless a business is started out of it.
    If a business fails the employees are out of work is a life-threatening disadvantage. Having to find a new employer is a job in itself, a worker lost a job with higher pay only to find new jobs available with lower pay and benefits do not kick in till months down the road. When you do start a new job the first paycheck received was two weeks. Four weeks if the new hire has to wait two pay periods, and it is a big one, but not in comparison to what workers make in those four weeks. Someone could have made forty kitchen cabinets worth $2000 wholesale and got paid $890 after taxes at the end of four weeks work. 

    Did the wages do not even come out of the company's profits n this example. The retailer bought the cabinets at a mark up and of that the cabinet worker got 15% of its value. Wages are paid in this case by the retailer and not the wholesale kitchen cabinet manufacturer. 

    Worker are placed at a disadvantage in many ways, they have no claim to the product. No claim to the factory used to make the product, all this the second they sign on the dotted line and complete the W-2 form. America is no Shangri-la in the workplace. The workplace in this country is the leading cause of death on a national basis. I can imagine the treatment this man got from a crude management and a rude Public was punitive and harsh that at a young age too, which is tragic, became demoralized by his employer's practices and society to want to end his life and destroy the world of work under what he probably did not know was capitalism.
