Claudette was 15 years old in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on a bus in Alabama — 9 months before Rosa Parks. Now the 80-year-old has been honored with a street in her name.

Just finding out about her and to be honest this should not have surprised me but it did and it really hurt my heart to be honest. Our history a the system teach it is such BS.
Claudette Colvin is the hero of my life she is the best if you do not like her you mess up
i never knew this! it should be taught in schools
she ate rosa with ease
Also look up Frederick Douglass if you've never heard of him
2:17 he probably just found out
amen
Just today I found out about this amazing woman, while I was reading something about Rosa Parks. I don’t know why her story is not that known. So much respect for this woman
OMG Thank you.
1955 Claudette's story is essential for today's girls. #essentialservices #firstaid
That was supposed to be for a copper color movement right nothing against all women though but I'm just saying😒⚡⚡⚡
Their should be a movie made about this woman we preach civil rights all the time set the record straight
She should have a statue
She was younger more vulnerable and more hated than rosa and she stood firm……and sat silent and let herself be forgotten for the larger cause…Black women man…..the strength I may never know
I made an NHD project documentary about her on my page. Check it out if interested!
And 100 years before them it was Elizabeth Jennings Graham
Give Claudette her flowers man that's sad how other blacks tried to dismiss her struggle smh crabs in a bucket.
So the aancp discriminated against her for her beautiful dark skin!
Wasn't she pregnant at the time and the movement felt she was too young and the look of an unmarried, pregnant adolescent as the face of the bus protests. Whack, but for those times I do understand. I'm glad more people are learning the TRUE story. She's a brave and beautiful soul.
Came here from TikTok, you learn something new everyday 😠also what a queen🧚â€ÂÂ♀ï¸ÂÂ✨
Claudette Colvin we appreciate you for standing up for yourself. You didn’t get the recognition you deserved.
Beautiful woman that made a remarkable turning point in history!
She look like that small daughter from Black-ish drama series.

Me viewing more of this video news begins to insult me more!!!😡 Please research Ida B. Wells!!!!!!!! She did the same thing prior to all of them, Rosa Parks and C. Colvin! Ida B Wells, please know your history!!🤨 Pull up her law suit, etc! ( My people claim they want freedom but don’t read history!!! This is what “ White Supremacy “, depends of us not recognizing our pedigree and our true history!) 😒 In just saying……….ðŸ˜â€Â
Peace and Blessings ABC News. I have to demand that you DO NOT FORGET THE ASTONISHING Ida B. Wells!!!!!🤨 Please look into her story! She was an Asiatic /African American woman, who refused to not give up her seat!!! The driver of the trolly or bus tried to physically remove her when see said emphatically, “ NO!†The drive then walked off the trolly or bus asked other European men for help to remove her. All three punk a$$ European men physically removed her. Ida B. Wells did not let the issue go after the physical removal! She took them/ the company to court and won her case!!! This was Ida B. Wells ah ha moment, which started her career as an Anti-Lynch crusader and she fought for African And Civil Rights. She is also co-founder of NAACP. Please do not be like everyone else and ignore this Great Woman! Peace from the Magi Hypnotist in the East. â¤ï¸ÂÂ🇲🇦🇺🇸✡ï¸ÂÂðŸ™ÂÂðŸÂ¾
If more of my people read actual books this nugget of knowledge would be more widely known. Read people. Read.
And still alive today! Let's cherish her! There are elaborate efforts to erase and hide black history.
