Some of you might have seen the ETCG1 video I did recently about not having heat in my dads truck. In this video I bring that story to a conclusion and I now have heat, really good heat, in the truck. This video also contains useful information on how to diagnose and repair a no heat condition in your vehicle. I hope you find the information useful and entertaining.

Great stuff
Sweet fix ….go to AZ and get a heater hose with a 90 on one end …they got them in back with the radiator hoses….happy Thanksgiving!
First thing I do when I open a set of SBC gaskets is throw away the china gaskets.
Excellent video, as always.
…Sweet truck
HE REALLY DID A NICE JOB ON THE INSTRMINT CLUSTER ON THAT TRUCK. VERY PROFESHINAL
My 92 truck came without AC and I bought a kit to have AC and after about 15 years after the AC lost performance and not due to a failure in the AC but the blend door seal had deteriorated and was going to be a pain in the a** to get to and I ended up running a cable controlled valve . Been working great for the past few years.
Eric, I always enjoy the videos you produce. The history, the problem, visual and hand feel for hot or cold, then the fix. Anyone can see the thought process unfold to reveal the root cause. It guess the welded aluminum radiator in a square body GM truck had this fitting and made sense at the time. But a couple of my personnel issues. First, use high temp red RTV on the end rails of the intake. I’ve been burned only a few times with the stuff GM had for a while that was black. I know, Red clashes with almost every “Blinged Out†engine compartment but it works. A good bead on the rail & dab on top of that gen 1 intake gasket tab.
The yellow radiator filler bucket, adaptors and T-handled plug. It alone deserves its own video with modifying the cheap thermostats without a tiny vent hole or “Jiggle†valve. Working on thousands of imports with names like Bosch, Beck & Arnley, etc. From a jiggle valve to a simple hole, after major service, running the engine with an aluminum cylinder head, sitting there getting hot with steam only. Eventually the thermostat opened, the the yellow bucket emptied out. Wow. Hope there was no damage to anything! I quickly had a process with a block of wood in the vise, an old “Globe Master†Phillips screw driver ground into an ice pick. Correct position was inside the gasket yet inline with the metal bridge that held the wax pellet & spring in check. This spot was perfect as it did not deform the sealing surface.
Many who have outboard V4, V6 engines have a tiny thermostat in each bank. This includes inline engine as well, but running these using fresh water or salt water, can suck a small chunk of sand holding open. Now V or inline may have temp gauges or not, this effects the engines ability to run properly. If not hot enough, it effect the A/F ratio and create cold spots in the cylinder would not run or idle correctly.
Ok, too much! But I have developed strong feelings on a thermostat w/bleed hole to allow air out, yet not effecting the running temperature.
PS. This question shows up the ASE L1 test in the 100 questions somewhere. Blessing!
How come you didn't go on top of the water pump for heater hose
the real question is what is this "substance" you speak of
i grew up to be the only gearhead in my family and relatives, and since i came across this channel a few years ago it has really helped improve my own skills, i have to thank you eric, more than just a youtuber in my eyes, a brother that i never had, keep it up buddy, i wouldnt be where i am if i didnt learn it from you.
With an aftermarket intake, never use the end seals it can hold the intake up and leak, black rtv. 🙂
you where trying to heat with t low side hoses . that caused the heater to use radiator water.
The tonya harding is the easiest way to fix a no heat condition
🌚ðŸ‘ÂÂ,thank you sir..
I have a 2005 Mustang Gt and a 2015 Scion FRS. Neither has a heater control valve. Both allow full flow of hot water through the heater core at all times. Both deal with hvac temp via a temp blend door.
Fact/Opinion here: Each vehicle has about 68,000mi on itself. The Mustang has had at least 12 problems, some extremely frustrating. The Japanese made vehicle has had ZERO problems so far.
Been working on cars a long time, ran into this issue years ago. If you look at the nipple at the rear of the intake, notice the passage is much smaller. Some even have a CK valve, or restrictor. Without these, you're not gonna get much heat.
Why didn't you just tee off the sensor outlet?
Rtv on china walls.bb and sb. Only way to go.
Any reason why you don't mention the CLR name?
Just say that you are not endorsed by the product and this product works for you but your mileage may vary
Did you soak it in a douche bag or an enema LOL
Why not use a water neck spacer with threaded ports?

Man that's a nice truck ETCG1!
Well thought out, nice work Eric! I do agree in sticking a 90 degree on outlet, but who cares right now when the main problem is remedied.
well done man, totally the right choice with the drilling.
