Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update: Top features + what’s new in Android 8.0 for Samsung’s latest Note

1. Fuck you samsung for not releasing the gold note 8 in the us……I wanted that one so bad but I'm stuck with the ugly and plain midnight black…..they dint even use the shimmery black they used to use on the s7…..shame….

4. Yep I have had many Samsungs and as soon as the newest one comes out they stop issuing updates to the older phones. You may get a single jump like from 4.1.2. to 4.4.4 but thats all it was for one of my prevous phones. If you look on their support pages you will see old old announcements about your particular Samsung phone. They will be years old and never actually materialized. It happened with my S1, Galaxy tablets, S5. and Note4.
   "Thank your for your patience with us and the Samsung galaxy __(last years model)____. As soon as we are finished with our rigorous testing we will be pushing the new Android version _____(latest version) in the OTA (over the air) format"
   Then you will see in the comments…. "Soo when are you actually going to send out the update?…" with no reply.

   If you want to update it you will need to start learning to Root, and install custom roms from XDA. Samsung LIES about updating the OS version on the phone you buy. I think its part of their business model. You might want to think about that before you buy the note8. Note 9 is rumored to be a few months away, maybe Aug or September.

14. They also removed the costume text tone ability which is BS. No longer can contacts have unique text tones, thanks Android/Sumsung.

30. You also miss out on video lockscreens,landscape mode and brightness control for the always on display as those are exclusive to the S9.
