iOS 15 beta just dropped, and so did the Android 12 beta 2. Considering both companies are borrowing more and more heavily from one another I wanted to take a quick look at both OS’s similarities and differences.

Android 12 looks sooooo beautiful â¤ï¸ÂÂ
Interesting comparison.
I don't quite agree with your assessment on privacy. Apple's focus on privacy is well established and pre-dates the current situation by several years (e.g., end-to-end encryption in iMessage, the stance they took with the FBI when asked to create a back door for law enforcement, etc.). I think it's fair to say that Google's business model relies on advertising and user data, whereas Apple's primary revenue streams are derived from device sales, services, and app/media revenue. Apple has used privacy as a value proposition and differentiator and Google is forced to keep.
In addition to Apple and Google having different approaches to innovation and experimentation, MKBHD released an interesting video that argues that Apple chooses to develop features to work across their ecosystem. This development takes longer and contributes to the impression that iOS is copying Android.
Android’s messaging is laughable.
Once upon a time apple was the king of kings in the smartphone game. Now pretty much any phone gets the job done for the basics. End of story. No one uses most of those stupid features. Most people just call, text, social media, browse the web and watch video or listen to music. That's it.
Awesome ðŸ‘ÂÂðŸÂ»
When it's android copying Apple, its "android copying Apple again" giving no pros to the implementation. But when apple copies its "Apple copied android But made it better" as if something was wrong with the way android already had it.
When ppl say "Apple copied but made it better" this is a cop out for lack of innovation. If you're copying, of course it seems better simply because you didn't take the risk so you don't copy what didn't work, you just copy what does work with your own twist. That's the point of copying. Only apple can get praised for copying.
The only thing that I saw that was impressive was share play, but even that has weird limits to it
If a company is selling a phone and it doesn't have call screen, I'm not buying it.
iOS is sooooo do for a re design. The last time was 2013!!!! . iOS 7 was legendary back then
IOS is boring
Every time the phones were side-by-side I thought the smaller device was the iPhone.
LG shuts down cell phone division but supplies Samsung with AMOLED screens.
Google teams up with Samsung to improve one UI.
Samsung rolls out foldable devices and micro led monitors.
Huawei losses it's market share to Samsung.
2021 has been a GREAT year for the Android market.
We headed into the future. ☺
Most people subscribed here don't care about iOS.
I noticed how slow the pixel is compared to the iPhone
thank you for share
How many of todays devices will get Android 12 update?
Awesome video as always, I'm loving the redesign for android 12, and I can't wait for it to release, hopefully for my phone as well! That mic quality too is gorgeous!
I wouldn't be shocked if we'll see a UI redesign for iOS 16 haha. I mean, it's long overdue for one.
I think this year afa update to both OS is concern then their is no comparison. This year android takes the ðŸÂ†. iOS 15 is just an incremental update but android 12 is complete overhaul of the OS bec of which first time ever i wanted to switch to pixel phone.
Major problem with Android is not easily get update. Still on Android 10. False promises of most of company for updates.
IOS finally has caught up with Android 8.
The mic quality makes my laptop speakers sound epic
I paid 1000 dollars for iPhone that’s why apple is better
The best feature I like about stock Android is you can directly copy any text or image or number directly from the recent screen.. it's so nice why is no one talking about it..
IOS 15 now has the assistant, built in for privacy.
IOS 15 now supports browser extensions for Safari.
Android… that's new.
I do find it almost shocking that Apple gets a lot of flack yet the most anti-consumer issue in smartphones is the reprehensible obsolescence that Android OEMs build into their phones with their 2-3 year updates compared to the seven the iPhone 6s is getting? Even if they charged $30 a year for another yearly update that would be something, but to abandon phones so early is a disgrace. I understand in the EU there is an investigation into this behaviour and we may see Laws made to protect consumers from this rip-off.
So, although Android Authority will never mention this discrepancy, it needs to be aired. Well done Samsung for that extra year and although they could do better, it is a good start. ChromeOS, MacOS and Windows along now with iOS and iPadOS get seven years at least, how can the diehard Android fans troll Apple for being late to features to perfect them, then not admit that they are being trolled by Android OEMs? Better to have 7-years of slower feature drops than 2-3 years…
…and then nothing!
I'll be honest… I don't think I've ever used Google duo or any other phone based video chat.
I've tried facetime and was bored
Just call me. Trust me I don't want to see you. And I'm not dressing up so you can see me.
Call or text stop video chatting.
Frankly I've had it with Android and I'm switching to Apple .. Apple's SoC is at least 3-5 generations ahead of Snapdragon, their system integration is far more advanced, and they support their products for years.
Security != Privacy, apple's privacy is better than Google's, at least right now. Google is heavily criticised by privacy enthusiasts for a reason.
great analysis!
I don't really care if Apple or Google "steals" a feature. If the feature is a good feature then I would rather have them "steal" it than implement a crappy feature no one asked for.
Awesome video. Very concise and precise. However, I have a suggestion, instead of using words like "borrowed" and "copied", "was inspired" and "was influenced" sound better than sounding like accusing one company of stealing from the other.
Wow I guess the ability to focus on one's own is rare these days. Like needing a babysitter at all times. Lmao he said Google and privacy haha
So for people switching from android to iOS or from iOS to android should be easier?
