18. My how things have changed. A race shop doing tuning with a computer but not disassembling and repairing a valve problem. Yeah, I'm an old school guy. Dail indicated and put a performance grind on the cam in my Briggs powered gocart 40 years ago. How? By cutting down most the base circle to increase duration and valve lift first, then adding weld to the tops of the valve stems to make up for the increased lash. Idled like a fuel dragster after that, and gained power. lasted many years. The kids drove it in the yard after I quit racing it.

23. Next time leakdown while its together so you can see if its intake, exhaust, piston. Either a mechanic stethoscope to listen for air or light a cigarette and hold it in front of the intake, exhaust, or PCV port to see if it blows the smoke away.
