How To Remove Wheel Locks Without a Key – EricTheCarGuy

As I state in the video DONOT use this information for illegal purposes, it is intended to HELP you if you happen to loose your wheel lock key. As with most things that I do with cars this didn’t go exactly as planned, in fact there is a significant amount of time between me getting the socket hammered onto the wheel lock and when it actually broke loose, I took a break to work on other things. I also said in the video that they make a special socket for removing wheel locks that makes this a lot easier, do a search for this and you will probably find a set of them. If you can’t find one of these sockets then this might be an option for you to try. The best thing is to try not to loose the lock key in the first place but I realize that this may not always be possible so I made this video for you.

  1. Always a fly in the ointment……My lugs (RAM) are torqued to 135ft.lbs. Had some work done on my truck. The tech didn't return the key, didn't notice till 5 months later when I needed to repair a tire….of course the tech said he returned it.

  2. Good luck getting it on🤣🤣holyshit that’s funny🤣🤣🤣

  3. Puting a wheel lock where you can't find it is not a problem. If you can't find it, it must not be on the wheel. What you shouldn't lose is the KEY!!!

  4. Wheel locks are a waste of money, good criminals have the master set or a twelve point socket gets them off. These locks are a great way for the dealer to over charge you when you buy the car new-cash add ons

  5. Mmmman. I can picture the 12pt spinning forever & then you can't get it off either. THEN you got problems haha

  6. Just lost the key for my mother's 2008 Town and Country. Time to remove the wheel locks.

Edit: Got a lot of old & inherited tools RE 12 point socket with lifetime warranty. I think I'll just buy the special socket set….. so I can use it one time and have more tools.

  7. Did a friends front end ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings, etc and he had one rim lock on drivers side. Needed to get it off, your video as usual helped a lot. Thx bro

  8. So what you’re telling me is no thief is going to spend all this time to get 4 wheel locks off 4 different times when they can just go steal another set of wheel for a fraction of the time 🙂

  9. Dude thank you for all your help I just got my rotor screws off and your way was so easy I felt stupid trying different things til I got to your video. You’re a badass and thanks for the help

  10. "Wear glasses while hitting it." 😆😁 Thanks for the advice sir! Lol.

  11. My problem,,, the guy i got the car from has locks on every lug nut. That's 6 lug nuts x 4 wheels = 24 sockets I would need.

  12. Bro , your a real lifesaver. It worked just like you said. My wheel lock broke when changing a flat tire and this video saved me money and time! Thank you

  13. The locks I have can be taken off eith a regular socket but it gets stuck in the socket and has to be heated up with a torch so it expands enough to let go of the lock. Theres no way somebody is getting your wheels without a key because they will be there for a while

  14. Hey Man I want to thank you so much. I "lost" the key like a month ago and was freaking out since I didn't want to damage my fancy wheels. And you just saved me with your "just search for the key" tips. I had already searched everywhere but decided to listen to that good guy on YouTube (you) and search again. Finally found it in the toolbox I never use attached to a ratchet I never user exept for the last time I removed my wheels. Thank you so much my man. Such a simple idea saved me so much assle.

  15. Bought a car with these locks and no key..got all four off with this method! 19mm worked for me btw. The trick is to only hammer it on far enough to grip so you have room to do all four.

  16. Just bought a truck put on the winter tires with the lock in the fall about to take them off now in the spring i use the lock and the lock decides to break YAY LOVE FORD
