  1. @mrami013 I tried rooting it, I've tried factory reset, I've tried everything. None of the WiFi aps work correctly, connecting to a computer via USB doesn't work, and I can't even upgrade it to 2.2 Android!

  2. @jimbritttn Root it and push one of the many gps fixes either through an apk, a custom rom, or even just updating the stock rom

  3. My Captivate has been junk; the GPS is horrible. It won't allow me to upgrade to 2.2. I have tried linking it to 5 computers but can't get the driver software to work. When this contract is up I'm going back to my "dumb" phone that is a PHONE with real buttons.

  4. @TheSe7enthSin …I don't recommend or appreciate this phone because it can't do what the company who made it says it can do? That's correct, idiot.

Oh, and you're right I didn't bash this phone enough. I forgot to mention the force-close errors when you boot it up, the sleep-death, and the random shut-offs which will make you miss your alarm for work.

What are you? A sell-out lobbyist for Samsung or something? You deserve a medal for "biggest company brown-noser ever." Moron.

  5. @Apocalypse135 … You don't recommend the phone just because the GPS device alone doesn't work?

Wow, you're pretty hard-assed. I'm impressed. You deserve a medal for "most unappreciative cell phone consumer ever".

  6. What sucks is my phone is a BRAND NEW Captivate, with the JH7 update already installed…. My GPS doesn't work at all… It only gets a reading if I let it use the WIFI to help it along. What a joke. Apparently, the JH7 update isn't designed to fully fix the problem.

  7. This video is so deceiving. I use the GPS Test app also. Sure, the app says I have 12 satellites in view. But I open up Google Maps, and the blue circle that tells you your GPS accuracy is as big as the state of Texas. I could be anywhere within my entire city, so congrats Samsung, you can at least detect what freaking city I'm in.

Unless Cognition ROM fixes it, or there's some sort of 3rd party fix for the GPS, I don't recommend this phone. Don't hold your breath for Samsung to fix it.

  8. im running JH7 and I have left the phone outside for a hour, no lock what so ever. if I turn network AGPS on, then it gets me to within 3 miles of my location. not fun.

  9. @fafeifa My GPS has NEVER worked on my captivate… Even with Cognition installed, still nothing. I've just given up any hope of having a working GPS until my next phone honestly. Oh well. don't really use it for much anyway, so whatever.

  10. @nippaaa The first thing you should do with your phone when you get it is completely wipe it and load Cognition onto it! You'll have 2.2 Froyo right away 😉

  11. If you believe the GPS is fixed, well gotta tell you there are better chances that Santa Claus is real.
Motherfucking Samsung didn't fixed shit and people are still waiting on 2.2 updates.

  12. The problem is not with getting the fix. I can get an "accurate" fix within a really short time, but it's not very consistent and the actual accuracy went from freaking terrible with the original firmware (zigzags and loops everywhere using Google MyTracks) to kind of bad with an updated firmware (still loses the lock a lot when using navigation, MyTracks is usable but can get pretty far off at times).
