We were lucky to attend the launch of the Yotaphone 2 in London, and what a marvel it is. With an e-ink screen, an AMOLED display and a Nexus S type form factor, it’s truly one of the more unique phones about to hit the market!

  1. Все американцы параноики цру будет следить за каждым американцем что он там в туалете дрочит на журнал с порнухой.

  2. So impressed by this, it looks like a huge improvement on the first Yotaphone which was clumsy with it's gestures and bugs, Yota2 looks smooth as silk with the intuitive touchscreen which anyone can use without needing to memorise special movements.

Dual screens with one being e-ink is very clever, they just needed to do it right, and they seem to have perfected it; so now you have a beautiful LCD for rich media, videos, photos games etc and an e-ink for reading articles, whatsapp, SMS, notifications, books in landscape mode, music control, always on clock etc. Lovely high resolution on the e-ink as well.

I imagine a tablet version will come out in the future once the Yota really grabs a decent market share.

As for worrying about what the back screen ends up looking like after months of use, i'd just put on a decent screen protector, now you can buy quality Tempered Glass screen protectors like Nillkin which do an amazing job of not just protecting from scratches and fingerprints, but also help prevent glass breaks as the energy is dispersed across the tempered glass…and they're cheap and easy to replace.

  3. I definitely want one if this one comes into asian market. I like it's different way of smartphone's perspective by the EPD.

  4. I think they are onto something here, although I think a better idea would be an e-ink cover. It's really clever but I think it's not something people would want attached to their phone 24/7.

  5. good idea but , there can be one more solution to make profile system rather than making dual screens, those profiles can be customized by users, for example , one profile is  DRIVING, under this profile  i will set few options that i want to use, like gray scale screen, notifications from selected applications, messages or calls only. i think this will be only upgrade in the operating system only and it can save the battery time rather than making another display.

  6. It's a waste of money. Yes, it's cool and innovative but tbh, who will use it daily? I mean, one front screen is enough, unless you want to impress a friend who will be wow for a second or 2. Go for G3 😛

Oh and the battery is not enough.

  7. I like that phone. It tackles one of the biggest issues now in phone industry, battery life
If you are down to your last 10 percent, that second screen can easily allow you to check your emails and stuff without draining as much power an an amoled
