I’ve pulled this one ‘out of the vault’, it was shot about 2 years ago as of this posting, I’m not sure why I never used it till now as I feel it’s a good video as it covers the basics of ‘in tank’ fuel pump replacement. It is here for you now and I hope that it provides you with useful information should you need to perform this repair.

  1. Are those wire splices safe, immersed in fuel? Seems like the new pump should have come with the correct connectors. Also, no seal at the top tank opening where pump resides??????

  2. I remember when fuel pumps were not installed inside the fuel tank. Those were good days. I like the idea of cutting an access hole above the fuel pump. Could this really give you enough room? 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon. 150,000 miles. I just filled up with gas. Two days later, no start. That will be a heavy tank. Should I siphon it out? Yikes, what a job. Thanks for the video.

  3. Thanks for making this video. If you were going to go through all that trouble to Drop the tank Etc, Why didn't you do what I did and replace the whole fuel pump assembly? I got a Delphi fuel pump assembly from where I work for like a hundred thirty bucks, and a fuel filter and had my mechanic put it in for $200 labor. They had the tank dropped and everything disconnected, so out came the old fuel pump assembly and in went the new one, why bother to replace just the pump part?

  4. My ex brother in law's 2 brothers were dropping a gas tank on an old school bus they wanted to make a camper out of, they were drunk, bolts were stripped so they went to torch off the straps. One died instantly when tank exploded, the other died 3 days later in the hospital.

  5. @21:17, I'm in your position so I know what you feel. There isn't reliable help out there these days… Men simply want the cubical jobs. They don't want to do the trades any longer… I can't get reliable help to do a major TLC on a multi-unit so I do it all by myself, one-man-army and I am 50% done with the multi-units. I also do a few car stuff, but I have enough to keep me busy on a daily basis at the multi-unit, that I''d rather outsource the car fixes to a road-side mechanic… More Power to us Real Men who take-on Manly jobs in the trades, which typically require at least two men or a crew, all by ourselves!!

  6. It seems so hard to do, I can't find the video that explained it all for the model of my car. And borrowing tools that I don't know the the name of. Feeling so low about it.

  7. I’d have dumped the dudes gas out and put it back in afterwards. Hell he’d be lucky I put it back in.🤔

  8. Anyone have a photo of WHERE in the floor to cut a hole to get at this bitch? Stupid ford. What should be a 20minute job is now a STINKY 2hr pain in the ass.

  9. I just finished doin a fuel pump change on 01 mercury sable. What a job. Was very difficult. Yet my daughter loves me so much.
