3. It’s the first time I’ve seen footage of a downpour in one of sams videos. When I was in Florida, especially in September it used to rain at 5pm every day like clockwork.

4. Coming from England and an ex Land Rover owner I can tell you, get rid of the bloody thing.
   They just dont last, and, as you have found, they cost an arm and a leg to fix, if you can get the proper parts.
   As we say in NZ, if you want to travel to a destination in style and luxury, buy a Land Rover, if you want to get back, buy a Toyota Land Cruiser. Much better vehicle.
   I speak from experience, Japanese are better in the long run.

5. You messed up not having a garage or a barn. I think you have to have a garage to buy one seeing as that's what it calls home.

8. Hey Samcrac, why don't you buy a land rover discovery 3 or 4 diesel versions and see if they are easier to fix or more realiable

9. Why the hell do you keep buying pieces of crap to fix? Everyone knows and has known for decades that land rovers are complete pieces of shit. I feel like every car you finish is put together with duct tape and bailing wire and fails again shortly thereafter.

10. Your a dumb ass trying to fix the range rover. Tow it to a boat ramp hook up a boat and trailer go down the ramp and don't stop. wait for truck sinks.good bye range rover.be sure you put full insurance on it.

11. After all that effort did you think of testing the resistance in the coils?
    Coils that are dying breakdown under load.
    Also the harness plugs for that sides injectors/coils should have been checked.

14. I guess it's a little late for this, but unfortunately Range Rovers are good for 4 years or 80,000 miles then you junk them!

Disappointing that 1) you didnt do the mechanics yourself to avoid those mistakes by other mechanics – disconnected bits and loose exhaust, O2 sensor – all shows a degree of sloppyness, so what else did they do wrong? 2) you didnt get to the bottom of the error codes. Sounds like timing not set right or O2 or cam sensor problem. Also no mention of checking fuel pressure to make sure HP pumps working ok.
    I’m still tempted to buy a Range rover 5.0 myself to do videos fixing any problems.
    That Jaguar engine is awesome overall (it’s a Jag engine design, only manufactured by a ford plant as a subcontract job)

22. If a land rover breaks on a trip, the TRIP ID OVER. IF a Chevy or Ford or Tesla breaks on a trip it is easy to fix .

23. My friend's Land Rover spontaneously combusted while he was driving down the freeway. The reliability on the damn thing was so poor he actually carried spare parts in back.

That failure shouldn't be much of a problem since all the issues are on the same side – since all your leakdown test were good it can't be anything but timing or ignition… if I was gonna guess I'd be guessing something to do with the computer controlled valve timing – those systems are controlled by pulse modulated solenoids to control the oil delivered to the device that actually moves the cam shaft to adjust the valve timing … or it could be as simple as several failed coils … I have seen engine fail 4 out of 6 coils — just takes someone with the proper knowledge and the right kind of scope to read the signals – even the factory scan tools can't do what a good automotive oscilloscope… operated by a knowledgeable mechanic or controls specialist….

29. at least you were totally honest which I appreciate. After this sad saga I would run a mile from these cars, I honestly didn't know how bad they are!

30. If the intake air temp is way too high (no cooling after going through the supercharger) then you're going to get misfires all over the place

I cannot believe that you picking the TWO Most reliable easiest n cheapest cars on earth to fix you still not managed to, after all its Not as if you picked a dead horse like a Toyota Honda Peugeot diesel my 205 did 210,000 n then I had to spend spend spend Diesel fuel pump solenoid valve £60, break pipes replaced real end both sides £18 each n even a battery even my Peugeot powered 1.4 diesel Fusion had 2 injectors leaking at 80,000 miles still 50 to the gallon in town n over 65 on the open road not too bad I guess, no sir you picked the Best, may I suggest a Jaguar for your next project sir? another open pit money saver
