This is a plan that I’ve had for some time, pick up a used car that needs some work and make some videos and now I have a 1997 Subaru Legacy to play with. I’ve already started making some videos with this but I though I would introduce this fine machine to you in this little video. I’ve already been asked about a head gasket video and I know this thing needs a timing belt so I guess we are on our way.

ETCG
Those old L legacy’s are awesome.. the long wheelbase in the back and folding back seats make a great camping car.. no tent required fits two people comfortably
Yo, I’ve got the 97 legacy “outbackâ€ÂÂ. No idea what the difference is, they look the same
hey eric, whats the best way to diagnose a rod knock or lifter tick in a 98 Legacy 2.2?
imagine that the boxer needed head gasket ..my buddy's needed one too. and it's the worst place for that failure . have to drop the whole engine ?
what a deal
hey eric i was considering getting a 1996 subaru outback that needs a head gasket for $400 do you think its worth my $400 or will i get what i pay for
Hey Eric, I really like all these Subaru videos. Can you make a section on your page with all the videos in this series ?
My Subaru is identical to this one down to the color. It's a fun little car, handles good.
Adjusted for inflation that 1997 $22,602 sticker price would be $33,560 in 2015!
love the sound of the boxer engines. Nice and low pitch roffl
that is a 2.2l ; They don't develop the usual headgasket leaks till around 300k miles. Usually oil leaks with these.
I'm looking to purchase one myself for next winter
so thankful you're on here posting these helpful guides especially with the legacy which I also have (1999) since new. You've been a great help. thank you!
so thankful for ETCG, I'm looking into getting a Legacy of the same generation at the moment.
boxer engine 😮
Farewell to ETCG's loyal Subaru, i sure will miss seeing it in the background or even when it was in the spotlight. It will be missed!
Wooops that was supposed to be $1,000 to $1,500
So, Now I see you got it for the price of putting in an engine but how much do you think it is worth~just curious because someone on one of you videos said it is only worth $500. I said No way & I would pay at least $1,00 to 1,500 for it. I see you don't answer comments so maybe someone else could tell me? I know all I have to do is look it up.Just a little busy at the moment.
Driving manual is not hard at all.
well, eric did state in a couple of his videos he really enjoys the feel and control of a manual and he definitely knows how to drive a MT. i personally will probably always need at least one MT in my life. there are nothing wrong with autos, there is a place for them, but MT is the real definition of driving, my friend : – )
I believe the phrase you were looking for is "horizontally opposed". This is coming from a Subaru nerd/nut though, so don't take it personally.
Corrigreen, you don't just scrap a Subaru.
that car would be regarded as scrap in ireland ya might get 300 dollars for it engine job would cost about 600 not a good deal eric, and ur a mechanic!
Hi Eric! I'm glad I bought Forester last December and I'm glad it had leaking head gasket and it had 124k and timing was from factory and I'm glad that I went to youtube looking some Subaru gasket staff and I'm glad I've ran into your channel and now I stick with it! I love your channel. YOU ARE GREAT TEACHER AND ENTERTAINER .
But I do not know how to vote for you. I "like" your every episode but I do not know how vote for you.
Thanks!!!!! I' dirty
