Using my s5 as my daily driver now in 2020. It' fast, durable and has better camera like 2019-2020 phones. Who needs aesthetics when you have super fast and durable with you
To be honest, I actually kind of like the beige.
2015,2016,2017'2018
One of the best Samsung phone.
What about the camera NOW?
is there any way to get Samsung Android 5.0 app icons like the ones that were box-like
super laggy phone
I've has a GS2, GS5, and now GS8. All great phones in their time.
Galaxy S2
– bezel ring was fragile, chrome paint chipped off revealing black plastic, and bezel ring actually hand chunks break off after a few falls.
– camera lens became scuffed to the point where the camera was useless
– phone crashed frequently, and apps force closed frequently
– GPS heated up the battery, and even once GPS turned off, battery continued to discharge more quickly – had to keep GPS off until needed. Battery life with GPS use was < 4 hours
– Stopped using (after 2 years) because dropped and screen broke (cracked and went black)
Galaxy S5
– Problems solved from S2: > bezel ring more durable, did not break or crack despite dropping
> camera lens more durable, few microscratches only, camera still in excellent shape
> phone rarely crashed (can count on hand), apps rarely force closed
> GPS/Battery heat-up issue solved, left GPS on full time, battery life with all radioas always on 8 –
16 hrs
– Problems not solved: bezel ring paint still chipped off, revealing white
– New problems: no major complaints
– Unique Advantages: USB 3.1 although unusual was very durable and never had connectivity issues the way smaller connectors like micro USB and the apple connector do over time. The port fap was much maligned by critics, but ended up being very effective and useful, and didn't break the way they said it might.
– Stopped using (after 3 years) because microphone stopped working properly after fall (had to use speakerphone/ bluetooth), ran out of on-board memory, could not free-up enough.
Galaxy S8
There aren't too many fixes I'm looking for on the S8 – hopefully they've designed it so that wear and tear is minimized or that it's at least not as conspicuous, but that's pretty much it. With 64 Gig on board and my phone mostly set up the way I want it with most of the apps I'd need with 46 Gig still free on board and a 128 Gig SD card, I think this phone can last me many years if I don't break it.
I am somewhat concerned that the rear glass panel will shatter early on, and that the USB port will bring back the same kinds of issued that I was having with micro-usb.
I personally love the design.
How can i remove the burn ins please help
I wonder why everyone knocks the S5 back for looking like a bandaid, while ignoring that on the Nexus 7, and even praising it on the Nexus. Also, why does no one criticize the slippery back of the S6 and S7 like they did the S4? who wants to clean fingerprints off the front AND back?
i have question about galaxy s5 that you can help with android authority
My question is I know the Samsung galaxy s5 phone cant use Samsung pay but can it use android pay
Is the battery good?
Love this phone in 2017! Replaceable battery, expandable memory, waterproof, on-the-go cable for most anything using micro USB 3.0 including HDMI to my 4k TV, fingerprint scanner works EVERY time except restarting requires the code. Fast charging (accepts 5.22v at 1.23a normal charging, and 1.60a when driving 4k TV), NFC for Google pay and NFC stickers in my car to automatically put in phone into car mode, sticker on desk to turn on wifi and turn off GPS and car mode, sticker on shed in back yard to unlock NFC lock, sticker in attic to turn on LED, NFC sticker bedside table to silence phone and set alarm. S5 takes great pics and vids, and is somehow slightly faster than S7 with "OK Google" commands on the same network. IR blaster and Anymote control just about anything that has a remote control; including my LG Air Conditioner, as well as the usual TV, stereo, Roku, dvd players etc. (takes less than a minute to program on hotel TVs as well as waiting room TVs 😉 Micro USB 3.0 really is great for moving vids and large pic libraries (correct cable is a must–many crappy cables sold, my 3rd one works great). Ultra Power Saving Mode with 100% charge will let me receive and make calls, albeit in dim, greyscale, for 12.5 days!! Literally would like to know what is so great about any of the other phones since the S5?–especially considering other phones have only the longevity of a non-replaceable battery or until it gets dropped in the sink, toilet or a puddle. Very happy with my $150 refurbished S5 that I've had a year. Oh, and a $.99 CDMA micro sim using BYOP and $530 buys a year of 4G LTE unlimited service for 12 months using Verizon towers through Straight talk (Walmart.com). Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard. A few pixels, wrap-around screen, non-tape-textured back—-not worth it to me. Reminds me of when VCR manufacturers were advertising 4-head, stereo, 7 event, 14-day timers–and most of the people that bought the "bait" didn't even take the time to figure out how to use the features marketers had used to squeeze a few more dollars from them!! Done with the rant–thank you and sorry…
It's worth it now that you can get it for less than 200
wow why are you bashing so hard on the s5? its an excellent handset! even today
Good review Android Authority 2017
3:15 crazy how you can use the Force on that phone
I have this phone. My friend hasn't had the best of luck, having the screen pop out and the plastic back crack while trying to take it off, and the water resistance adding charging port cover broke off. I haven't had any issues but i haven't dropped it yet. The battery life kinda sucks compared to older phones. You can literally watch the % drop once a minute if not more. and the "2gb" of ram is always taken by at least 1.2gb of ram, so not really a full 2gb of FREE ram. Also you can't delete the bloatware but that's to be expected with Android and can be fixed with a root if your service and warranty allows it (more than likely doesn't). It lags when scrolling on fb and any other web browsing. but in the menus it's smooth. i enjoy the extra space expandability and removable battery, i think it should be mandatory to be included on every phone. the camera is okay and focuses well until you get up close, or it get blurry if you move the slightest when taking the picture. The screen looks great and colors pop out. the fingerprint censor works only if you get it 100% correct but it does work. the sound on it is okay from the rear speaker but good from the headphone jack. but over-all i love the looks of the phone, the way it feels in my hand, and all around a nice experience other than charging it once a day.
compare iphone 5s with Samsung S5 . You will find big difference between both . Samsung needs to improve them a lot.
un super telefon !
who else is watching this on the Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2016?
2 and a half years still rocking it…never thought of replacing it
using samsung j3 16 works fine tbh just bad camera but it works:) for the price its a dope phone
My mom is getting this phone for me as an christmas gift. I wanted the s7, but you knw since it's the newer model it's more expensive than this one
what should I choose lg g3 or Samsung Galaxy s5
It's been 2 years now and my S5 finally decided to stop charging today. RIP.
it don't take long for a fone to become old. but I think its a money racket. when everyone has bought their fone, then the next one comes out.
Should I get the s5 or Galaxy a3 2016?
