This video has been a long timing coming and is one of the most requested things I get is about batteries going dead overnight so I’m very happy to finally bring you this video about the process of finding a parasitic draw which is a small drain on a battery above 50ma when the vehicle is shut off. Once you find the right fuse(s) the next step is to trace the components involved in that circuit till you find the source of the draw, you first start with a wiring diagram to give you an idea of where to start looking and then start unplugging things in that circuit to isolate the cause, it’s quite scientific really a simple process of elimination. Here is a link to BBB’s site that you can use to look up wiring diagrams for your application.

Good luck and if you have anymore questions check the database on my website and if you don’t find what you’re looking for there then post your question to my forum, here’s a link.

Cant you just touch your tongue to the back of the fuses to test for current flow like on a transistor battery?
hood open switch should be pressed down
Hey, i have a 2001 Honda Civic and when i try to do this test (when i touch the terminal with multimeter tip) my position lights starts to blink (front and rear). Why is it happening?

Car priming fuel pump cause the door is open? I'm skipping this video.
this was before the amp hound revolutionized the game
When I do this on my 2013 Honda crv the alarm starts going off 😳 tried with doors locked and unlocked. Am I doing it wrong
What kind of multimeter is this? I want to get one
Just bought a truck that needed work but was a good deal. Parasitic draw killing battery. Found 3 GPS tracking devices wired in, 2 that looked like common lender installed hack jobs and 1 crazy UFO looking one that wound up being the parasitic draw, it never shut off and must have been broadcasting location to outer space to keep killing the battery. Took all 3 out because I paid cash for the truck, no lenders involved, clean title.
Great video for an amateur looking to find the source of power draw on my 1977 Corvette battery. Thank you so much!
Eric the Car Guy Channel really has aged like a fine wine
This happens to my 2004 tahoe but only when I sit with key in the ignition and listening to the radio. Stock radio no add ones. What do you all think
I realized that my BMW E60's electric water pump kept running even after an hour after shutting down the engine. How many amps does such a water pump draw?
I will try your method, but I read you could do it with the multimeter on voltage setting. what do you think?
need help for honda odyssey 2006 fuse 7 back up draw. thanks
