I think this might just about complete my valve adjustment videos on Honda engines. There are only a couple more that I can think of that I haven’t covered like the Vigor 5 cylinder engine and the DOHC VTEC found in the NSX (that will be a fun one trust me) but that’s about it. As you can see in the video this valve adjustment requires a special tool. You don’t have to use the same one that I used in the video but you won’t be able to accomplish this procedure without some sort of special tool. Once again make sure the engine is cold and it’s probably not a bad idea to run back through them after you go through the first time just to make sure everything is still in spec, it’s strange how one revolution of the crank shaft can change things. Otherwise good luck.

eric, thanks for this video. i hope you can read this message. if the intake clearance is .006 to .007 in. and the exhaust clearance is .007 to .008 in, it is better to use the lower number to prevent burning the valve and also make it less noisy?

between the adjuster and valve stem. the rocker pads get wear groves.
da heck. 30min. your non vtec b18 was about 8min.. sigh.
All you have to do is loosen that bigger nut under that clapper rock cover thing with that flat headed screw in the middle and tighten that as tight as possible without stripping the screw and then tighten the nut to keep the inside screw from rattling lose again. No need for fancy tools and funny looking feeler gauges .

@Eric If I adjust them slightly tigher exhaust valve and loser the intake valves will this add performance??
They did come with a automatic transmission option

Did you line up the cams properly when you re-checked the cam clearances, it appears that you botched the cam clearances by misaligning the cams in the last step.keep your cam gears lined up to the cylinder head cause if not you will be setting the cam in a undesirable position!
Type r are tottally different from bottom end and top high comp pistons and sane springs and same valves aswell different flowing head smh

I was a bit confused by this. When do you need to tighten/loosen the valve? When the measuring tool doesn't go under the cam lobe all the way? If anyone can clarify I'd appreciate it.
need peoples help wit my civic fuel pump goes on all the lights turn on the dash but doesnt crank at all what do you think it could be ? I have a 94 civic vx hatch swapped with a b series if you can help me out i would appreciate it
Thanks for the great video Eric! My only suggestion is at 3:38 to put something between the pliers and the valve cover (like a strip of cardboard etc) so you can avoid the risk of marring the paint.

Using feeler gauges, especially for valve adjustment, is one of those skills that is hard to learn without physical, hands on instruction from someone who knows what they're doing. "how much drag?" "some, but not too much…."
