Changing Honda manual transmission fluid is not a difficult task in my opinion. I think the hardest part is figuring out how to fill the transmission. The most important take away however is using the correct fluid, Honda manual or GM Syncromesh fluid. In my experience using other fluids can cause shifting issues or worse bearing issues. This video will take you through the steps I use when changing Honda manual transmission fluid. I hope it helps you get the job done. Here are some links you might find useful.

Nz call them Honda’s too
I think thats the reverse gear switch for the rear reverse lights and a deep 24mm socket and 8 inch extension get it done but I could be wrong
Does gear oil still smell like cat piss?
You can always use a big syringe
2.2qts
Pennzoil Synchromesh should work as well. Pennzoil states that it works for GM and Chrysler on their bottles as a replacement so I would imagine it works On Hondas as well. Let me know if I am a lyin'.ðŸ˜ÂÂ
Any Motorcycle 5w30 will work!!! because most of motorcycle use wet clutch in crank case. It will include same additives like MTF!!! Ive tested for 6 years had no issue.
Love how casual this is, not worrying about torque specs and perfection. Thumbs up
Oil really doesn't matter i never used Honda oil 20 years no issues
Thanks Erick. I own you a lot man.. I learned so much from you… God Bless you bro
Will gear lubricant work?
Why can’t the new fluid go through the top 3/8 drive nut hole that was removed for air flow? Is it so you know how much trans fluid was replaced going through the filler hole 17mm
HELLO- ive a 98 Accord EX with the 5 speed. 196k on it. Shifts decent. But not like the legendary honda butter gear box ive always heard about. Do you suppose new HG MTF will improve this shift feel? ANYONE?
thank you! i came back because i remembered watching this video 2 years ago
Could I just use the transmission dipstick?
How Many liters oil ist necessary??
I found the secret sauce, It is 1 part Synchromesh penzoil 1part dino 10w30
I live in Brazil I have a 1994 lx accord, the car manual asks for 20w40 oil, even for an engine, does not specify original oil
Thank you! I was about to use honda 10w40 motorcycle oil. Glad i watched your video b4 gitten r done!
1.9 quarts in 98 civic.
Just get a bit of hose pipe, cut a slit down the end so it can bee squeezed and fit into the hole
is it 3 liters oil?
Why not use a fluid pump from underneath til it spills out? Seems easier than both methods.
Thanks boss!
Sir i'st true that Honda works better with original Honda oils and fluids?thanks

Hey Eric i have a problem, i was doing transmission fluid change i atached a copper 90 degree fitting but somehow that copper fitting detached from the rubber hose i was using and went inside the fill hole.. i could still feel the copper fitting but as i was trying to get it out from the fill hole it went more dwn, do i have to take the whole transmission apart?? An answer will really be apreciated eric
My car is a pain to fill. The fill level is about a half inch below the fill bolt on my 2005 mustang gt but I’ve realized that if I jack the front up a little bit I can then just fill it up until it pours out then when I lower the car. It’s about a half inch below the fill bolt. I have no idea why ford did this on their 05 to 10 mustang gt manuals
When I took Off the fill bolt on my manual transmission is hiss as if air was either rushing out or in. Is that normal?
I took my fill plug out, and fluid poured out. Does that mean it’s been overfilled? I thought it would be low
Funny thing is my owners manual for my 93 Civic calls for 10-W30 for my manual transmission lol
Thanks Eric! I really appreciate the time & effort you put into making these videos. I have 2 Honda's; a 1992 Accord & a 1992 Civic. They are each over 223,000 miles and I really want to keep them going. Your videos are the go to I use to help me do just that.
I did the differential and VTM fluids on the Ridgeline. I just pumped the fluid in until it ran out with a hand pump.
What's the oil part number ?
Would be helpful to state year, sub model and engine code for the car you are working on.
Eric, When assembling a manual transmission from a d series, everything spins freely, even when the snap ring is installed. However, when I tighten the 12mm housing bolts I cannot spin the input shaft with my hand. Help! What do I need to do?
Sweetest!
What's the difference between the Synchromesh vs the Synchromesh Friction Modified?
I know people who use hydrolic fluid
Your the coolest! Thanks for the time
