Today’s COTD is a 2008 Mercedes SLR McLaren that was completely flooded! There’s mold growing in the interior. Check it out!

I'd buy it and do a complete disassembly and cleaning.
Never mind the car…WTF is that art thing on your wall?
Dude I think that's my grandmas neighbors car! Same color same interior same everything!!
Wow, that painting is so bad! So bad it's almost good. Almost!
Copart cars were good in Houston.
then they all had water/flood damage
U tryna fuq?
This car worth more as it is then 100k USD. Only the hood worth more then 70k $. and the whole car will go more then 150k
Lol probably did nothing about it and just took the check from the insurance company
only for parts
That painting is absolutely gorgeous
Ed Bolian said that he was close to buying this exact car.
Lol I'd buy it and fix it
This is not well know about how to get a car dry. Put the car in a metal vapor barrier bag used for shipping military electronic equipment. Then put bags of desiccant all throughout the car and in the bag. Heat seal the bag and check it in a few days making sure that when you cut it open so you can reseal it again. You can then take all of the desiccant bags put them in an electric oven which you can buy used and recharge the desiccant. You can do this over and over until all of the moisture is completely removed from the car. Why do this because you can remove all of the moisture from the electronics without damaging them. As you said many of the electronic components aren't even made anymore. you can also recline all of the interior and no mold will regrow as you've just killed all of the spores.
Hi Sam, I bought a 2008 Cayman S hurricane Harvey car that was both salvage flood and biohazard mold. We used filter masks and vinyl gloves to completely strip the interior and washed all the surfaces remaining with strong soap and fresh water. This car was fresh water flooded and sustained no corrosion damage at all. Each of the modules were disassembled, cleaned and reconnected. The mechanicals were serviced, the engine was turbo charged and the car caged and fitted with seats and harnesses. Since everything that was wet went in the dumpster we now have a 460hp full race car for pennies on the dollar.
I think it's a shame to waste flood cars just because they got wet if you can repurpose them. Wet diesel pickups make great farm trucks and the electronics are far more robust than most people think. You just have to spend the time to clean and dry it all before you activate them.
just submerge it in rubbing alcohol with some ultrasonic and then dry out. should get better)
ThinkPad! Good taste 🙂
It's all carbon fiber, just strip it and turn it in to a race car
What do you think the complete cost to rebuild this car would be ?
The wiring is going to need to be replaced. This rots from the inside out when it gets submerged.
slr hood new from mb 75.000 usd front bumper 15.785 usd rear bumper 9.750 usd slr brake rotors 11.000 each usd . slr brake caliper 20.000 for front 12.000 for rear "according to jay leno". rims without rubber used 1000 each usd plus tires that can cost 4 to 8.000 usd door shells 35.000 for the passenger side and 42.655 for the drivers side usd. wind screen 9.000 usd .
boot lid 12.565 usd .as a parts car even at 100.000 is still worth it even with these problems .
Serve tape window defendant acceptable virtue invent him observer let long.
Biohazard my ass!! Ill take it!
2:01 i think that red mark on the roof is to show the water line was higher than the roof of the car
Samcarc I saw the car after the flood and i meet the onwer
If i had money and time i would take that car apart to the last bolt and rebuild it.
Such a waste, if all the electrics are goosed then maybe a parts only car?
The orange line on the top of the car is the water line. That car was completely submerged and sad to say it's probably just a parts car or non operable movie prop.
This is too expensive to be a project car.
I know it's completely unrelated but I really like the painting on the wall…
For a guy that obviously has money. Why do you only own one shirt?
drop a w220 V12 in it and modernize the interior, why even take it back to stock? its so far gone
Lord I could just imagine how much it would cost to fix this. Take this to Mercedes and they'll replace everything
I’d put a Chevy in it
Tavarish's next video: "I bought the cheapest Mercedes SLR in USA!"
I would buy that I’ve fixed worse than that
These videos are great. I just started buying salvage motorcycles to repair as a hobby. There is an easier time getting used parts at a lower price vs cars.
Man..I would of grabbed my wallet and phone and drove off in the SLR way before the storm hit land!
Fake price
dash cover and seat covers and call it a day
Why is your name crack
I doubt it can be made 100% original again, but it can probably be rebuilt into a pretty nice franken car.
