    For something that's so incredibly important , it needs to be solid.
    Had one break the other day . Then the next day the other one needed doing. When it broke the then cv axle pulled out. , it totally destroyed me and my life.
    Catastrophic when it broke

  3. Greasing a new ball joint there’s no reason for grease to reach the dust boot while injecting grease is there?

  4. Plastics used for bushings and bearings are actually self lubricating – no grease is required. That's why they use plastic instead of steel on steel – steel would require periodic lubrication.

THX for the visual CHRIS, I didn't know that it's the PLASTIC inside that wears out, it makes me wonder does grease keep the plastic from wearing thin or is just wear and tare? does it really matter if it has a grease fitting? My balljoints lasted 15 years with the OEM"s with no grease fittings,thx James

  6. This is informative to those who have to disconnect the Links to Anti-Sway Bars. A design that could be improved on. If you fail to hold the shaft while removing the Nut(s) with an impact gun, you will heat up the ball and melt the plastic. Often in the rust belt the nuts are so rusted that the Allen Key hole or 10mm stub fail before the nut comes loose. Try a Vise-Grips and Impact gun – same result if Vise Grips slip and you rotate the shaft.
    If you heat the nut you will also melt the plastic inside. You may as well have 2 links on hand (they are Left and Right) as you may have to cut off the nuts/shaft with acetylene torch.

  7. Great jop man.. in Iraq we used to fix this ball by cutting the top layer and adding some rupper then closing the surface by welding..

  8. Not because you can make it you will do it,its nice how you show whats inside the ball joint but thumbs down on how you cut it with that grinder…as the saying goes prevention is better than cure….

  9. I got a Toyota prius 2010 model Toyota don't sell the inner tie rods you have to buy the entire rack . All the after market are only for a gen 2 . So was just wondering if I could pop the shaft off and fit it to a new ball cup end . Or is it even possible to take them apart .

  11. Hey Chris, I just replaced my control arms ~3 weeks ago and now there's a lot of squeaking coming from the front end when going over bumps. Sadly, I don't have grease fittings to use and I'm just dying to know how to properly grease my ball joint & bushings. I know I should've applied grease during the initial install… it was overlooked at the time for whatever reason.

  13. Nice clear and concise video. Quality was good as well. I've replace many ball joints over the years, but I had my son watch this video so he could do it on his own. It was easy to follow for somebody with limited mechanical skills. Nice Job!!!
