I saw an article in HR, PHR, or similar about 30-40 years ago on running mfi on the street, using a flow control regulator on the return line instead of a system with pills and valves. It was very well tuned and ran at least as good as a properly tuned carb system. This was around the late 1970s to early 1980s before most vehicles came with efi new, and long before aftermarket efi kits became common.
