Josh got a new Moto X too – in that bamboo backing that he loves so much – and he is here to bring you his thoughts on the phone. Mostly in agreement with Lanh’s great review of the phone, Josh harps on a few key aspects of the phone.

  1. Used Moto X Pure for a year, brand new from box. Overall a great phone until at the one year mark when the battery started to fail. Phone would loose 25% in 10 minutes unplugged, and require to stay plugged in inside my helicopter just to function with GPS load.

Decided to have battery replaced as I loved the phone, only to find the 20 (size torx 4) screws had multiple stripped screws from the factory. Two of them had to be drilled out precisely to remove the battery. I imagine I have about a year before the replacement battery offers similar trouble.

My husbands LG v20 has similar stats, dual cameras, same size, and a REPLACEABLE BATTERY.

I advise you to consider other options before the Moto X Pure. It is a nice phone, but it is very power hungry which leads to premature battery degradation, and without an easily accessible battery, a possible nightmare even for a professional to to replace.

  2. I almost think the reason they're moving away from the X series is that old,,, cut costs,,,mindset. They can get rid of motomaker and shove more profits in the big boys pockets.

  3. I just bought the phone today and will be getting it in a week. It's a solid upgrade coming from a Nexus 5.

  4. my moto x style thumbnails not showing.when I play some videos it hanged every time.even I factory reset my mobile.please give me the proper solutions of this issue.

  5. I bought this phone after your careful review and I am returning this back after 3 months of use, the phone heats up while handling multiple application, UI freezes when swapping between imo, WhatsApp, maps or a few other application. never had this issue with Sony.

  6. Got mine last October and love it but I wouldn't recommend getting it now as there are new phones that are coming out this year like the One Plus 3!

  7. Hi, I've purchased a Moto X Pure Edition from a reseller on ebay… contacted Motorola support for help and waiting… here's my question… is the "Pure" non-customizable AFTER purchase? another words the "back" (which is what I want to change) isn't removable, correct and can only be done from the factory? This is the empression I have because their is NO path to purchase just a new "back"! Thank's

  8. I never understand people who struggle using a phone in one hand cause I never do, I always use two hands cause it makes more sense to me and its more comfortable.
