It's OK quality,but what more can you expect from a tablet that costs 199.99. If i want better quality ill use my nexus 4!.
I've just purchased Camera JB+. Lot more features for the Nexus 7 camera. Great app!

IPads ff camera is VGA which is 640×480 the nexuses is 1280×800 hd… VGA is 0.3 megapixels vs nexus 1.2 megapixels
Its not great but the ipad is NOT anybetter.

I use an App called "Camera JB+" to record 720p on my N7,works great!
