As you can see in the video my old roll around seat has gotten pretty worn out. It’s also slowly falling apart. I’ve had it about 2 years now which I don’t think is very long. It did serve it’s purpose but it was time to move on. In comes Traxion who sent me this 2-700 seat for review. At first I was skeptical because of what I show in the video about my tools moving when I change locations but it seems Traxion has solved that problem with the rotating base. Also, this seat is WAY more comfortable than my old one. Let’s face it though, this is a lot of money for a seat like this. To that I say this, it’s cheaper than a lift and when you’re sitting on something like this for the better part of a day you’ll feel a lot better at the end of the day haven’t sat in this seat. In addition, Traxion makes other seats that are more affordable so you might want to take some time to check out what they have available in their catalog.

  1. It looks like with the Harbor Freight roller seat the tool tray is too shallow too. I would be a little concerned about things falling out. Honestly I don't think you paid too much for the Traxion one. You can't always put a price on something that works well.

  2. I have one, and absolutely LOVE IT!! But after some time the pneumatic cylinder started leaking so the seat would drop down a bit then more then more…….then I had to get off the seat and hit the handle to raise it, and then …repeat. I wrote Traxion about it and NOT only did the replace it free, they gave me the taller version which made the position of the seat PERFECT! You GO Traxion!

  3. I have had two of these seats and you cannot keep the wheels on. The metal tubing is too this and the caster loosen and come off, almost allowing the person to fall. I tried Loctite on the second seat and the casters still came off. Great seat if thge casters would stay on.

  4. I've only had mine for just a little over a month, and of course now the piston mech is starting to fail as it slowly sinks while I'm sitting in it.  And of course it is now outside of the Amazon return period.

Have you had good luck with yours?  Hoping I can get hold of the manufacturer if it is still within warranty.

  5. Eric: I know this is a old vid… I bought one of these recently, and you must have been "extremely lucky" with the one you got… Mine… first of had to drill holes and put in bolts in the lower receiving tube for the seat hydraulic tube because side to side motion drove me crazy.  Next after one day of use the "supposed square tubing" on one of the legs split, and I fell over… This is the biggest piece of junk Iv e ever spent money on… go to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M2QMHK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and read the reviews if you don't beleave… How about a follow up Eric yours still working or ???

  6. On the lift thing…  My Mechanic days were in the 70's.  We used the old fashioned air-powered center-post lifts, drive on ramp lifts and pits.

These new fangled twin-post lifts I see in use today aren't my cup of tea.  I'd rather be able to hug the center post and keep the car off me if something unfortunate decides to happen.

I've witnessed one swing-in lift failure.  It was not pretty.

  7. Read your comment on the lift and I will say the "Staying true to my viewer base" is by far the most resounding.

I do mechanics for a living and as a hobby, and on most jobs doing it on my back under jack stands doubles or triples the work time and effort.

  8. Ha Ha !!  I was waiting to see if you'd put yours together upside-down like I did… glad to see I'm not the only one !  Thanks for the post !

  9. I might have to get this! I always used a milk crate and it's been great but I need something a little more comfortable.

  10. Nothing to really do with the chair tho it is very nice and I'm glad your keeping things on the ground. But I really started watching your videos when you did the springs and struts on the grand am in the old shop. I've now officially watched every video and loved every one (including etcg1). As an aspiring mechanic seeing you getting the job done with just basic tools and know how makes me wanna do that as a professional even more. I just wanna say thank you for the inspiration and the videos. Can't wait for more (especially of oliver).

  11. It's good to see your camera man Bryan. You should give him more in front of the camera time. Nice job racing who won? Looked to close to tell.

  12. Not bad, but for less than 23 bucks with a 25% off coupon and tax the Harbor Freight one is still a decent deal. Also could be easier to tip over the nicer one because it only has four wheels.

  13. I'll gladly live with my Harbor Freight seat for 1/10 the price. Sheesh. I can upgrade the castors for under $20 as well, though I really don't care if they're small and wobbly. When I have room in my garage for a lift, I will be very happy that I didn't buy any fancy, expensive tools, and still have plenty of money to spend on a 3 ton lift. You can get them for as little as $1500. Money well spent.

  14. sorry eric my quest has nothing to do with this page but guys at rosedale said u can help my 2002 expedition is making a rattling jingle noise from driver side rear tire what do you think it could be
