Magnetic clip on lenses for smartphones aren’t new, but they’re cheap and pretty easy to get hold of. So we bought a couple, and we’re going to spend a week goofing around with them.

  1. A quick Question…….

I love the back of my nexus 4…. and this ring does look pretty ugly….. I was just wondering how easy it will be to remove the magnet from the phone?

    Cheers

  2. just got mine in the other day, ordered off amazon. The ring doesn't like sticking to the Nexus 4's glass back, but I ended up getting it on right after 2 tries and it doesn't come off now. Fun lenses to play around with

  3. Dx.com has a range of these. The 15mm FE-12 was the best cheap fisheye but is out of stock. These aren't made for specific devices, they're generic, though fit and adhesion will vary. Quality is hit and miss with the cheapies.

Companies like Olloclip make higher quality lenses at a much higher price.

I plan to use one with my car DVR. Capturing about four times the field of view is no gimmick

  4. Nice idea to test these, as I've seen lots of short reviews about them, but never a good video comparison.

  5. This actually looks like a really cool idea. My wife would probably like it, though I don't know if it'll fit properly on her GNex.
