I am positively 100% sure that no one knows what actually happened and are just guessing.
Next time put a camera in the engine so we can be sure or else.
A valve will most definitely cause that (been a victim of this myself on cast pistons). That looks like a floated valve. Doesn't matter if a Honda can handle the RPM. The acceleration of the RPMs when James shifted because he pushed the clutch before letting all the way out of the gas.
Seen a few destroyed cast pistons from a valve dropping, which definitely bends the rods and cracks sleeves.
Water locking at high RPM blows keepers on the valves to pieces.
You guys are all wrong.
I cant believe nobody saw this, It's so obvious when you rewatch the original video and look at the damage.
Go back and watch you all will agree, it's clearly because James was granny shiftin, not double clutchin like you should. He was lucky that 100 shot of nitrous didn't blow the welds on the intake. Now Brent and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block and replace the piston rings James fried.
What went first the piston or the valve. Car guy version of chicken or the egg.
In all honestly. Hydro locked makes the most sense.
I have had them break both ways. What does the log say? Sounded like a super high over rev at that missed shift.
It hydrolocked for sure then all the torque from the awd caused the extra carnage.
No worries it'll buff out
Hydro locked 100%
Brent is right
Sleeve, piston, then valve.
Imo Brent theory is correct.
When d b and h motors they blow it's always minimal when k blow up the fucking motor disintegrates. Every time
Fight made. Brent wins.
Brent is totally right. It hydrolocked. And all that carnage is from all the people riding in the car. Under a full load. First it had a hair line crack ,water rushed in the cylinder. Busted pieces of the piston busted the valve and that's the carnage I seen James leave it running afterwards at the track! Brent's right. Kaboom .
Brent’s right
James is to use to bald eagles that can take a rough shift or 2
Damn that old dudes shin is disgusting…shit looks like it's rotting or something.
Looks like it dropped the valve then turned the tulip sideways forcing the piston to break along with the sleeve. The twisted rod also helps show the load path. Seen it multiple times on different engines.
Hydro lock
Kyle, you can fix it like these guys did, see:

LOL
It's another dog box, you already told
It is not a hydro lock, it was a floating valve.
Brent is right, sorry boostedboiz. Still awesome videos
Had to have been water you seen that steam when it blew
Two words. "Speedy Dry"
You're hard-boosting an open deck block like that? No wonder you're taking a fucked-up engine apart on the floor and pissing oil everywhere; you are total fools.
I don't dare argue with Brent… But was there water and coolant in the oil?
