  1. No need to dremel the body, just keep baking the screw and it will bend it a little and pass right through. Just did that today and saved myself the extra hassle of having to cut the frame..

  3. I would probably also replace the upper ball joint lol. I’m debating just replacing the bushings on the upper control arm instead of replacing the entire control arm. The metal seems to be fine.

  4. Because of you I believe I can do this myself.
    I dont have a ball joint press but I am getting in from Amazon. It is 100$ cheaper too!
    Would it be ok to do my upper arms and later do the ball joints when the press arrives?

  6. I've the same problem in my 2007 Trailblazer, thanks for the video, but you were not cut in the car's metal you were cutting my heart 🙂 , there must be another way to do that get that screw out.

  7. I just replaced my passenger side with a Mevotech upper control arm. Most of it was straightforward except the pinch clamp that goes on the ball joint was too thick to seat all the way down and I could not get the pinch bolt back in without grinding material from the bottom of that section. Think I'll try another brand when I replace the driver's side.Also the ABS cable clamp would not come out of the old arm not matter how much I tried working screwdrivers etc. up into the clip. Finally broke and now I have it securely zip tied into place while I try to find a replacement.

  9. IF YOUR JACK STAND IS UNDER THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND THE WHEEL WAS LIFTED JUST OFF THE GROUND, (about an inch, at the most!), WHEN YOU LIFTED THE VEHICLE. YOU DON'T NEED TO PUT THE WHEEL BACK ON WHEN YOU TORQUE THE UPPER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS……….."cheers!"

  13. Ratcheting wrench seems like a bad idea there – at least the kind that you have to flip to reverse. You put that on there and turn the bolt out, you get to the point you can't go any farther, you can't get the wrench off anymore, the bolt isn't out far enough yet, and you can't screw it back in again.

    Friendly tip for anyone with the cold start issues (clean throttle body) mine was gunked up after a serious clean the truck runs and start like a dream.

  15. Hey Chris Fix, I just wanted to thanks for this video. After watching this, I was able to replace both left and right upper control arms on my 06 Trailblazer. I started with the left side first since you mentioned that was the hardest side. You weren't kidding. lol
    The right side didn't take long at all. Anyway, thanks again. Now I need to take it in for a wheel alignment…

  17. Actually — not a bad video. I learned that there are no adjustments on the upper control arms. That's news to me as I retired before these vehicles came into my shop.
