Fyi, the logic here is for charging phones/lion battery devices from a battery bank. If the item you're charging is legitimately 5v then you should get close to thr rated mah of the battery pack. The loss is because of what you're charging, not from what you're charging from. The voltage is coming out at 5.1v then dropped to around 4.2v (closed circuit). This results in roughly 20% loss because the excess voltage is burned off via a regulator and being converted into heat.
There is loss when its converting 3.7v to 5v
I am always pleased when I hear about improvements in battery technology. However, there is nothing better than having a replaceable battery or many of them with charging cases.
I don't care if it charges fast, they have make them last more years before capacity losses
What about battery density and number of recycles before degradation?

I could go for 2/3 charge. I wouldn't cry too much about it. Not when the 3,000mAh Lidl/Silvercrest bank that I bought, on it's first try, charged my 3,220mAh phone battery by 10%!

You need a 20000 Millamp. Power Bank. You get about 9 or 10 charges. Anything lower is a waste 😎

Wonder if power banks with Invertors are the same given they don't have to downgrade voltage and some have much bigger voltage internal batteries.
PowerBankCapacity * 3.7V / 5V * 0.9 = Real final capacity
heat due to the components, cables, temperature ambient, all this are the factors that reduce the power of it also make some calculations to see really how much, it's the exact but calculate it….

Actually… That roughly 2/3rd of useable capacity is only when the powerbank manufacturer is high-end quality. Meaning if they use A-class quality batteries (produced by the big four brands), well engineered PCB and high grade electronic components.
Before I bought a powerbank, I educated myself so I could make the best choice for my own needs (RAVPower 16000mah) which has 72% useable power. Anker and Xiaomi had equal efficiency and were about the same pricing, but I liked the looks of the RAV more.
The lemonzero battery case for my galaxy s7, on it's first run, kept my phone going for 3 days, charging it back up about 4 times in that time span. The s7, being 3000mah and the battery case being 7500 mah
that's why removable/replaceable/swappable batteries were a better solution to this battery impasse of smartphones. I was carrying a 30 gram (less than 1 ounce), 3 mm thin, very small second/replacement battery for my Samsung Galaxy s5 and getting a second %100 battery charge by swapping it in 10 seconds. Since you install it directly inside the phone, as it is the original battery inside. there are no up/down conversion losses…I wish someone will produce another flagship phone with a removable/swappable battery again.
so why not make the powerbank 5 volt in the first place?

Today of the business practices of today. They do the same thing with Hard Drives to make it seem like your getting more for your money.
There are so many people on YouTube who do tech "reviews" and have no idea what they are talking about. 80% of them that do power bank reviews need to watch this video as they all say a 10,000 mAh power bank will charge a 3000 mAh phone just over 3x which is totally wrong. They need to watch this video.

Actually Gary's rule of thumb is highly accurate- I got a 4000 mAh charger to charge my 2960 mAh phone and it got to only 78% so I returned it and got a 4400 mah power pack by the same brand and it got me to 100% with a tiny bit to spare. 4400 is 1.5x 2960 and it was merely enough so well done!
Now what about these battery banks that offer AC outlets? How does that conversion and power loss work out?
I have a RavPower 26800mah.
It's really good. Takes a very long time to fully charge but holds that charge for a long time too. So you don't need to charge day after day. And because it iCharge, it charges my phone 2x faster than being plugged into the mains.
It's an awesome device to have and works brilliantly.
